What is Female Football Week (FFW)?
rebel Female Football Week (FFW) is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the immense growth of women’s football at all levels of the game and acknowledge and promote the important role women play in developing football. The objective of rebel Female Football Week is to drive female participation at all levels of the game, with a key focus on increasing female player participation. In addition, Football Federation Australia (FFA) aims to drive promotion for women’s football and celebrate women involved in the game.
Football South Australia will be activating FFW between March 13-22 in 2020 and will be aiming to build on the success of the 2019 promotional activities that were undertaken. Football SA will aim to deliver activations, forums, gala days, and launch the 2020 Community Season throughout the week to celebrate women and girls in football.
Community Season Launch – Friday March 13
On Friday March 13, Football SA will be launching the 2020 Community and Junior Seasons. This will coincide with the FFA National Female Football Awards where Football SA have nominees in each category. The National Award winners will be announced at an event in Sydney, with Football SA being represented at the function, and will update social media’s accordingly.
School Gala Day – Monday March 16
Football SA will be hosting a school gala at Blakes Crossing Primary as part of the Football in Schools (FIS) program. Blakes Crossing has the highest number of female participants for FIS in Term 1. 50% of their participants are female. Football SA development team, digital team and W-League players will be out and about interacting with the participants, conducting clinics, signing sessions, video content, giveaways and a Q&A. 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup star, Cote Rojas will be the main attraction at this event.
Coaching Female Athletes Forum – Tuesday March 17
Football SA Coach Education Manager, Alec Wilson will be conducting a workshop based on the holistic development approach specifically focusing on aspects related to the mental and emotional corners on coaching female athletes. This forum will be open to all coaches and be conducted at Coopers Stadium.
WNPL Female Football Round – Friday March 20
Round 3 of the Women’s National Premier League will be known as Female Football Round. For the first time in 2020, all 4 matches will be played at VALO Football Centre on the same night. FOotball SA will have MiniRoos activations for junior spectators as well as giveaways. Each WNPL club will be asked to highlight one female that goes above and beyond in their club, and will be displayed on social media as well as at the venue.
Community Club Gala Day – Sunday March 22
On Sunday March 22, Football SA will be present at Adelaide Jaguars Women’s Soccer Club during their season matches. With all teams playing at home, the whole club community will be present. The club also has 5 of their 6 fixtures against all Women’s clubs. With the 6th fixture being against Adelaide University (the largest club for female participants in SA). Football SA will be present with giveaways and rebel sport West Lakes presence.
The rebel Female Football awards will be held on Friday, recognising the incredible contribution by both women and men in football at all levels of the game in Australia.

What are the rebel Female Football Awards?
The rebel Female Football Awards recognise the role of women in our great game.
As well as highlighting work done by women at both Westfield W-League and Hyundai A-League clubs, it also shines a light on the unique stories and volunteers at Member Federation and grassroots level.
The rebel Female Football Awards are held annually on as part of FFA’s continued commitment to growing the women’s game at all levels.
The awards recognise and acknowledge achievements made in women’s football over the past year and bring together all facets of the women’s game from a national through to grassroots level.
