2018 FFA National Youth Championships

Bernardo Oliveira shines at the 2018 FFA National Youth Championships, while SA teams come up against the best in the country

The 2018 FFA National Youth Championships were held last week from Monday the 24th of September till Friday the 28th of September.

Football Federation South Australia sent 4 teams for the first time ever, including two U13 and two U14 squads.

Since 2006, the National Youth Championships have been hosted by Northern New South Wales Football (NNSWF) and Coffs Harbour City Council at the C.ex International Stadium. Over 600 of Australia's finest footballers travelled to Coffs Harbour to participate in the 5-day tournament.

All 4 SA teams performed outstandingly throughout the tournament, with each team winning some vital matches. The SA teams beat the likes of Northern Territory, Capital Football, Victoria Country and Football NSW. Each of the 4 teams also came up against Brisbane Roar, Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory in the 2018 tournament.

Although each of our 4 teams did not claim silverware, Bernardo Oliveira of the South Australian Red team was named player of the tournament in the U14 age group.

The son of former Adelaide United star Cassio scored 4 goals in 7 games throughout the tournament and impressed officials.

FFSA would like to congratulate all players who travelled to Coffs Harbour and participated in the tournament
