The curtain has officially closed on the 2025 Barry Maney Premier Leagues, with premierships crowned across senior and junior competitions. It was a season full of passion capped off by two thrilling senior Grand Finals.
Barry Maney Women’s Premier League
Apollo 1 – 0 Gambier Centrals
Apollo stood tall once again, clinching the Barry Maney Women’s Premier League title thanks to a decisive finish from Deni Maxwell (20'). Her composure through the centre of the park proved vital, breaking the deadlock and steering her side to glory.
It was a complete team effort from Apollo, with Daylia Daylia orchestrating play as a real game changer in midfield, while Zoe Brooksby provided a commanding presence in defence, reading the game with precision and nullifying Centrals’ attacking threats.
Despite the narrow scoreline, Gambier Centrals held themselves high. Their performance showcased determination, pushing Apollo to the very end in what was a worthy Grand Final.
Barry Maney Men’s Premier League
Gambier Centrals 4 – 1 Blue Lake
In the men’s decider, Gambier Centrals delivered a commanding performance, sealing a 4–1 victory over Blue Lake in a spectacle of attacking football.
Blue Lake struck early through a Shar Nay Than (5’) penalty, but Centrals responded with authority. Cameron Saint was clinical, scoring in the 41st and 87th minutes, while Sam Shoemark (73’) and Thomas Renzi (90’) added to the tally.
Centrals’ midfield was the difference, with Christian Fleetwood dazzling with quick feet and intelligent link up play. Defensively, James Davey stood out with a rock solid display, while the contributions of Alexander Obedi and Lewis March ensured balance across the park.
Both goalkeepers Alex Hill for Centrals and Eh Mwee Htoo for Blue Lake played pivotal roles, producing key saves in trying conditions. Ultimately, the class and depth of Centrals shone through.
