$3.75 million Mount Barker Regional Sports Hub Announced

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, in conjunction with Federal Member for Mayo Jamie Briggs, this morning announced $3.75million towards the establishment of a regional sporting hub in Mount Barker if re-elected.

The new facility will ensure the Mount Barker Regional Sports Hub is a critical regional sporting facility contributing to the local economy and to local job creation.

Football Federation SA (FFSA) has been working closely with the Mount Barker District Council to establish a Football Hub in the region that will service the local and surrounding community.

The project will be a staged development and when completed, will boast a venue with 4 synthetic floodlit pitches, spectator seating and change facilities for players and match officials.

The venue will be of a very high standard and will attract major events, in addition to hosting FFSA events such as the State’s Country Championships – an event that attracts in excess of 2,000 players and spectators annually.

Member for Mayo, Jamie Briggs and the Turnbull Coalition Government are committed to the development.

“This is a fantastic project for our community and one that I am thrilled to be able to deliver for the families of Mount Barker,” said Jamie Briggs.

“The Hills community is in need of more sporting and function facilities, and this project will serve Mayo locals well into the future,” Mr Briggs said.

Mr Briggs has been working with Mount Barker District Council and South Australia's peak sporting bodies to deliver the Mount Barker Regional Sports Hub.

“Jamie Briggs has been a strong advocate for this project at a federal government level. This important project would not be possible without the support of Jamie and the Turnbull Liberal Government,” Mayor Ferguson said.
