Adelaide City and West Adelaide to fight for Women’s Premier/Division 1 Cup Title

On Friday 23 August, Adelaide City will be taking on West Adelaide in the Women’s
Premier/Division 1 Cup Final at VALO Football Centre.

The game, which kicks off at 7.00pm, will be City’s seventh consecutive Cup Final
and, if they are successful, their third consecutive Cup title.

This year’s game will be a repeat of the 2018 Cup Final, which saw City defeat West
Adelaide 3-2.

West Adelaide secured their spot in this year’s final after defeating Salisbury United
9-0 at VALO on July 19.

City also took on Metro United at VALO on July 19 and defeated them 3-0, securing
their spot.

Firas Shahin, the FFSA Women’s Competition Coordinator, spoke about the growth
of women’s football in South Australia and the significance of Friday’s Cup Final.

“The last few years have seen the popularity of women’s football in South Australia
grow.

The talent that has presented itself throughout the women’s leagues is great and
this is evidenced by the number of W-League players that will be featured in the
Final.

We’ve also worked hard to continue to support the growth of the competition
through producing more content throughout the season.

This game is going to be massive and it’s crucial that spectators come out and
support women’s football in order to ensure its constant growth in the future.”

Friday night’s game will feature a wealth of players from the W-League’s Adelaide
United side, including Georgia Campagnale, Chelsie Dawber, Isabel Hodgson and
Dylan Holmes for City; and Emily Hodgson and Sarah Willacy (if back from injury) for
West Adelaide.

The game will be live-streamed on the Football Federation of South Australia
Facebook page for those unable to make it out to VALO.

Friday night is family night, and this Friday should be no different!

A jumping castle, face painting, and football darts will be available throughout the
night and an ALDI MiniRoos Gala will feature from 6.00-6.45pm.

Entry to the game will be $5 and free for spectators 16 and under.

VALO Football Centre is located at 46 Cowan Street, Angle Park SA 5010, and has
on-site parking available for players and spectators.
