Football South Australia is delighted to announce the August winners for the Bendigo Bank Community Awards. We'll be hearing from the winners over the next few weeks. 


August Coach of the Month | Alasdair Rogers, Mercedes Old Collegiate Soccer Club

Rogers


Alasdair Rogers volunteers his time as coach of the Mercedes Old Collegiate Women’s team. His calm and professional approach is admired by his playing group as well as the broader Mercedes community and is often acknowledged by opposition players and coaches. Alasdair strives to make every player feel valued, his energy is contagious and he provides clear and concise feedback in a caring manner to foster the continued development of the team.



August Volunteer of the Month | Ruth Hughes, Woodside Warriors Soccer Club

Ruth Hughes has been serving the Woodside Warrior Soccer Club as a dedicated volunteer for more than 8 years. The past two years at the club have been dedicated to her role as canteen manager, with a strong focus on providing healthy food options, risk management and recycling. In the wake of COVID-19, Ruth has also introduced an EFT system for purchases along with implementing all necessary policies and procedures to facilitate a safe environment.  



August Referee of the Month | Nick Babadimas

Always striving for self-improvement, Nick Babadimas shows commitment to training and regularly seeks counsel from both referee coaches and his peers. His humble personality and dedication to developing exceeds what is expected of community referees. Nick is fair, reliable and a positive role model for fellow referees.

Throughout a challenging period for sport, Pembroke Old Scholars have shown outstanding commitment to their community, providing a safe environment for players and spectators alike. During August, Pembroke held their Annual Community Day, celebrating the valued contribution of players, coaches, family and friends who all play a vital role in the club’s success and sustainability.
