Comets secure Grand Final spot, City edge past Croydon in feisty affair | RAA NPLSA Goals Wrap | Finals Series, Week Two

Adelaide Comets have booked their place in the 2020 NPLSA Grand Final after a resounding 3-0 win over Campbelltown.

The sides faced off again after the first of their two-legged semi-final fixture ended goalless, meaning that the winner of second leg at SA Athletics Stadium would take all.

It looked as though the two teams would play out a third successive stalemate half of football, but a moment of sheer brilliance by Comets forward Tete Yengi broke the tie open in first-half injury time.

Yengi went on a mazy run towards goal after collecting the ball in the centre circle, dribbling past five Campbelltown defenders before coolly poking his shot into the bottom corner to hand Comets a crucial half-time lead.

With everything to play for in the second half, Andreas Wiens collected his own clearance from deep in defence and ran down the left wing before a quick one-two with Anthony Mavrolambados set him up for a precise first-time strike in at the near post in the 71st minute.

It took only four minutes for Wiens to grab his second, as he tapped in from a low Yengi cross to seal victory and a Grand Final berth for Comets.

Campbelltown will face off against Adelaide City in the Preliminary Final, who have come from sixth place to claim two cut-throat finals victories in as many weeks and open up a clear path to the decider.

Benefitting from an early sending off for the second week in a row, City overpowered ten-man Croydon Kings to run out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Nicholas Bucco, Jackson Stephens and Terence Carter, who netted a hat-trick last weekend.
