COVID-19 UPDATE – FOR ALL COMPETITIONS | AUG 3

On 2 August 2021, the South Australian Government announced further easing of restrictions in South Australia as of 12:01am Thursday, 5 August 2021. Sports will be able to resume competitions from this date and this document outlines the newly announced restrictions which come into effect from Thursday. 

Since the announcement on 2 August 2021, Football SA and other local sports advocated to the South Australian Government for the quick return of spectators to matches. The South Australia Government made a further announcement today, 3 August 2021 that crowds of up to 1,000 people would be allowed at local sport. 

More information, including the new Activities Direction, will be made available by SA Health soon. 


IMPORTANT NOTE 

*No person should attend games if in the past 14 days they have: 

  • been unwell or had any flu-like symptoms. 
  • been in contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19. 
  • any respiratory symptoms (even if mild). 

 

LATEST RESTRICTIONS ANNOUNCED 

  • Density requirement of 1 person per 2sqm for businesses, including licenced premises. 
  • Density requirement of 1 person per 4sqm inside gyms and indoor fitness facilities. 
  • Up to 1,000 people allowed to attend outdoor local sport events. Spectators must wear a mask and be distanced at 1 person per 2sqm. 
  • It is mandatory to wear a mask inside public spaces (i.e. to be worn inside club facilities by patrons while not eating or drinking). 
  • Masks are required for health care services and therefore must be worn by providers and patients (i.e. club physiotherapy, sports trainers, doctors). 
  • No communal consumption facilities (buffets and smorgasbords). 
  • Seated food and beverage consumption only. 
  • No singing or dancing. 
  • COVID Management Plan for events of more than 1,000 people, and for outdoors only. 

 

COMPETITIONS 

  • Sporting competitions can recommence from Thursday, 5 August 2021. 
  • Singing is not permitted (no club songs can be sung). 
  • Up to 1,000 people allowed to attend outdoor local sport events. Spectators must wear a mask and be distanced at 1 person per 2sqm. 
  • Masks are required for shared indoor public places (i.e. club rooms, fitness centres). 
  • Masks are required for health care services and therefore must be worn by providers and patients (i.e. club physiotherapy, sports trainers, doctors). 
  • All clubs must have a mechanism for contact tracing – via QR Code and manual sign in sheet. Please ensure that the QR Code and manual sign-in sheet is clearly displayed at point of entry and other prominent locations around the venue. 
  • The host club is required to provide COVID Marshals

    o If there is less than 200 people this can be part of another role undertaken by the person. 
    o If there are 200 or more people, there needs to be a dedicated COVID Marshal.

CHANGEROOMS 

  • Access to changerooms is permitted. 
  • Showers and wet areas can be accessed if required. 
  • Access to treatment rooms is allowed however density requirements must be observed. 
  • Teams are encouraged to ‘Get-in/Get-out’. 
  • No access for non-essential personnel such as spectators, media etc. 
  • Teams are encouraged to arrive dressed and ready to train wherever possible to minimise the use of changerooms. 
  • Ice baths are permitted, however limited to one person per ice bath at any one time. Any areas that are used by the player to assist entry and exit into the ice batch must be wiped down between users. 
  • All changerooms must have hand sanitiser available. Hand sanitiser is available from Football SA. 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

  • All venues must provide hand sanitiser in prominent areas of the venue including changing rooms, club rooms, and entry points. Hand sanitiser is available from Football SA 
  • All venues must ensure soap dispensers in toilets are provided and maintained. 
  • Social distancing to be promoted by the club – signage and PA Announcements. 
     
  • All players must have their own drink bottle, no sharing of drink bottles. 
  • All players to provide their own recovery food such as at half-time oranges, or lollies. 
  • Instead of shaking hands, participants are encouraged to use an alternative form of acknowledgement such as fist tapping. 
  • Each team is to nominate one person that is responsible for the Team Sheet. o This person will be responsible for completing the team sheet, printing it and providing it to the Match Official. 

    o The same person is to sign the team sheet at the completion of the game. 
    o Each person signing the team sheet must use their own pen, no sharing of pens is to occur. 
     
  • Clubs to continue to promote general hygiene – washing hands, use of hand sanitiser, cover mouth with tissue or elbow when sneezing or coughing.
