COVID-19 Update | JULY 28 | For All Competitions

On 20 July 2021, the South Australian Government announced a 7-day lockdown for South Australia in response to the Covid-19 Delta Strain cluster. This lockdown included the cancellation of all sport training and competitions.

As of 12:01 am Wednesday 28 July, South Australia will be coming out of the 7-day lockdown. The Emergency Management (Activities – Associated Direction No 5) (COVID-10) Direction 2021 have been released and are to operate as an appendix to the Emergency Management (Activities – General No 3) (COVID-19) Direction 2021.

Sporting activities can resume in a staged approach, with Training able to re-commence from Wednesday 28 July and competition to resume from the following weekend.


IMPORTANT NOTE

*No person should attend games if in the past 14 days they have:

  • been unwell or had any flu-like symptoms.
  • been in contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.
  • been to any of the exposure sites as identified and publicised by SA Health
  • any respiratory symptoms (even if mild).

 

NEW RESTRICTIONS ANNOUNCED

  • Density requirement of 1 person per 4sqm.
  • Density requirement of 1 person per 8sqm inside gyms and indoor fitness facilities.
  • Masks must be work inside public spaces (i.e. to be worn inside club facilities by patrons while not eating or drinking).
  • Masks are required for health care services and therefore must be worn by providers and patients (i.e. club physiotherapy, sports trainers, doctors).
  • No communal consumption facilities (buffets and smorgasbords).
  • Seated food and beverage consumption only.
  • COVID Management Plan for events of more than 1,000 people, and for outdoors only.

 

TRAINING

  • School, team, and club sport training that does not involve interaction with other schools, teams or clubs is permitted as of Wednesday 28 July 2021. Masks are not required when physically exerting.
  • Sports spectators are only permitted to be present as a caregiver for a participant at training - only 1 caregiver per participant is permitted and must be wearing a mask.
  • Masks are required for shared indoor public places (i.e. club rooms, fitness centres).
  • Masks are required for health care services and therefore must be worn by providers and patients (i.e. club physiotherapy, sports trainers, doctors).
  • All clubs must have a mechanism for contact tracing – via QR Code and a manual sign-in sheet. Please ensure that the QR Code and manual sign-in sheet is clearly displayed at the point of entry and other prominent locations around the venue.
  • The club hosting the training session is required to provide COVID Marshals.
  • If there are less than 200 people, this can be part of another role undertaken by the person.
  • If there are 200 or more people, there needs to be a dedicated COVID Marshal.

CHANGEROOMS

  • Access to change rooms is permitted.
  • Showers and wet areas can be accessed if required.
  • Access to treatment rooms is allowed however density requirements must be observed.
  • Teams are encouraged to ‘Get-in/Get-out’.
  • No access for non-essential personnel such as spectators, media etc.
  • Teams are encouraged to arrive dressed and ready to train wherever possible to minimise the use of changerooms.
  • Ice baths are permitted, however, limited to one person per ice bath at any one time. Any areas that are used by the player to assist entry and exit into the ice bath must be wiped down between users.
  • All change rooms must have hand sanitiser available. Hand sanitizer is available from Football SA.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • All venues must provide hand sanitiser in prominent areas of the venue including changing rooms, club rooms, and entry points. Hand sanitizer is available from Football SA
  • All venues must ensure soap dispensers in toilets are provided and maintained.
  • Social distancing to be promoted by the club – signage and PA Announcements.
  • All players must have their own drink bottle, no sharing of drink bottles.
  • All players to provide their own recovery food such as at half-time oranges, or lollies.
  • Clubs to continue to promote general hygiene – washing hands, use of hand sanitiser, cover mouth with tissue or elbow when sneezing or coughing.
