Croydon FC's new Regency Park home edges completion

Croydon FC's new $7m home at Regency Park is almost ready for football, with the handover imminent after the project enters its completion stage.

The project, which has been overseen by Football SA, the State Goverment and City of Port Adelaide Enfield, will be completed next week when the keys will be then handed over to Croydon FC.

Croydon FC moved out of Polonia Reserve on South Road in August 2019 and has been playing their home matches at Jack Smith Park ever since, with training taking place in Port Adelaide.

The move though will be well worth the wait, with two FIFA-quality full-size synthetic pitches, a community grass area, new club rooms overlooking both pitches, four change rooms and a community function room awaiting the club.

Football SA CEO, Michael Carter said

"Croydon have had a long and proud history at Polonia Reserve. The expansion of South Rd presented a huge opportunity for the club. Collaboration between Croydon officials, the State Government, Pt Adelaide Enfield Council and Football SA resulted in funding of $7million. That $7million has been invested in Regency Oval and created a home for Croydon that will leave a huge legacy for the club and game broadly. The location is second to none and exposure for the game on South Rd is enormous. The result is fantastic and we would like to thank all project partners for their contribution to this great facility. We look forward to the opening in the new year."

Croydon FC Chairperson, Simon Gargaro, is looking forward to a bright future for the club.

“As the current custodians of the Croydon Football Club we had a vision just as the Polish Community had over 70 years ago: to create a space were community gathered and enjoyed football.  A new era is now realised and we are proud of the new facilities that will be enjoyed and valued by the whole community.

The new facilities will also ensure the growth of our commitment to Junior and Women’s football.  We thank the State Government, Football SA and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield."

Football SA will be bringing you more content when the official handover has taken place.
