JOINT MEDIA STATEMENT

Football Federation SA and Adelaide City Football Club

Football Federation SA (FFSA) and Adelaide City Football Club issued a joint statement today commenting on discussions held between them following the Club’s breaches of competition player regulations relating to the 2017 and 2018 NPL seasons.

Adelaide City FC Football Chairman, Fred Lenzi said “We have undertaken an extensive internal review of our systems and governance processes to identify areas for improvement. Adelaide City FC strive for continuous improvement to ensure the Club is seen nationally as one of the most highly recognisable and successful football clubs, whether it’s on the field, developing players, or our off-field administration and leadership. We’re proud of the role and contribution Adelaide City FC has had in developing and progressing football in South Australia. The lessons learnt through this experience are valid lessons for all clubs in the State and the governing body.”

FFSA CEO, Michael Carter said “The Club has proactively worked with the Federation in undertaking its review and through that process has also provided constructive commentary in terms of their findings and observations. Our national body, FFA, has committed to a national review of the NPL Rules and Regulations that apply in all territory and state competitions and we consider that there are learnings and insights from both Adelaide City’s internal review and our own internal examination that will be of benefit to the FFA’s review and the good of the game for all”.
