Statement from the CEO of Football SA, Michael Carter, on Adelaide Comets FC and Adelaide City Council matter

Statement from the CEO of Football SA, Michael Carter, on Adelaide Comets FC and Adelaide City Council matter.

I write on behalf of Football SA in direct response to the decision by the Adelaide City Council at its most recent meeting to reject upgrades to Adelaide Comets Football Club Headquarters at Ellis Park.

From the outset of the development, Football SA in partnership with the South Australian Government has supported the hard-working volunteers at Adelaide Comets with application to upgrade facilities that accommodates and provides an all-inclusive safe environment for its 600+ strong active playing participants. Football SA expresses its deepest concern at the recent to decision by the Adelaide City Council to decline the completion of this precinct as it clearly challenges the Adelaide Comets Football Club both financially and socially.

It is understood this decision is to be reviewed in the forthcoming weeks by the Adelaide City Council and as such, Football SA will be formally writing to the Adelaide City Council supporting the club. It is clear that facilities within close proximity to Ellis Park support the requested alterations to the venue.

Football SA will continue to work with Adelaide Comets Football Club and the South Australian Government and will be a willing participant to meet with Adelaide City Council should they wish to do so.

Football SA will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

Yours in Football,

Michael Carter

Chief Executive Officer
