Football in SA suspended until at least May 31, 2020

In line with FFA’s statement earlier this evening, Football South Australia can confirm that all sanctioned grassroots football competitions and associated training in SA will be suspended until at least May 31, 2020. The situation will then be reassessed as we approach that date.

With the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19, Football South Australia maintains its stance on prioritising the health and safety of its participants and continues to do all it can to slow the spread of the virus across our state.

Football will be played in South Australia when it is safe to do so, and that decision will be made in line with Government guidelines and medical advice, in consultation with both FFA and the National COVID-19 Working Committee.

Football SA CEO Michael Carter said;

“We are committed to returning to play in 2020 when permitted. As a sport, we are fortunate to have multiple venues that can accommodate participation in football 12 months of the year.

I thank the football community for their great support during these difficult times and I urge everyone to continue their hard work in following the advice from health professionals and our Government to help stop the spread of COVID-19.”

Football SA will keep all stakeholders informed of further developments.
