Fulham United to play out of Adelaide Shores Football Centre from 2018

Football Federation SA (FFSA) in partnership with the Fulham United Football Club wish to announce that Fulham United will play its FFSA Men’s State League 1 home games at Adelaide Shores Football Centre, West Beach, from Season 2018.

The multi-year arrangement sees Fulham United’s senior men join the club’s senior Women’s National Premier League (WNPL) team in calling Adelaide Shores home.

Michael Carter, CEO of FFSA, voiced his support for the move. “We are delighted to be able to support the continued growth of the Fulham United Football Club through their use of the Adelaide Shores Football Centre,” Mr Carter said. “The location of the venue is perfect for the western suburbs club and we look forward to watching them develop into a force in years to come.”

“The agreement with FFSA to move to West Beach is another positive step for the development of our club in just our second year in the FFSA men’s competition,” said Fulham United FC President, Arthur Labrosciano. In 2017, the club based at Collins Reserve, Kidman Park, has grown to over 470 registered players, making it one of the largest football (soccer) club in South Australia. “Much of our recent growth is as a direct result of joining the FFSA men’s competition at the start of the 2016 season,” states Mr Labrosciano.

“Our significant progress of late has only been possible thanks to the support of our club partners, in particular Major Partner, NAB, and Premier Partner, Vero Foods,” claims Mr Labrosciano. Over the course of the past 47 years, Fulham has grown from just two amateur men’s teams, to today fielding 40 teams every weekend – four men’s teams, two women’s teams, 27 junior boys’ teams (Under 6 to Under 17) and seven junior girls’ teams (Under 9 to Under 17).

“When the club was established in 1970, our home was at West Beach, less than 200 metres from the Adelaide Shores facility, in the Barratt Reserve precinct,” said Mr Labrosciano, a club life member, former player, captain and coach. Formed as Western United, Fulham United FC moved to its present home at Collins Reserve in 1980 and has played there ever since.

Collins Reserve (on Valetta Road, Kidman Park) will continue to be the club’s main training base, as well as home for the junior boys’ and girls’ teams. “By playing our seniors’ home games at Adelaide Shores, we’re creating more opportunities for boys and girls to join our club and enjoy full use of Collins Reserve on match days,” says Mr Labrosciano.
