Junior Girls and Community Women's Cup Finals Preview

This Sunday sees the best Junior Girls and Community Women’s teams battle it out for their respective Cups at The VALO Football Centre. A total of 8 clubs will be represented on Sunday as some familiar teams make a return to Cup Final action. An acknowledgement must go to Cumberland United who have teams competing in the Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 Finals.

The Under 13 Final will see Modbury Vista make history, being the first team from that club to make an FFSA Girls Cup Final. The girls have made it through the cup competition with only 11 players, due to a few girls being cup-tied. Both teams sit 2nd and 3rd in the Under 13 Red competition with the two sides only meeting last week. On that occasion, Cumberland showed their final opponents what they are in for with a 5-2 win over Vista in preparation of the cup. This match kicks-off at 10:45am on Pitch 2.

The Under 15 Cup Final will be a great encounter where Adelaide Comets coached by Martin Radcliffe are in the final for the 2nd year running. Adelaide Comets aren’t happy with their performance in the league sitting second bottom. However, with an impressive run in cup competition’s, Martin’s side will be looking to win the cup again in 2018. Cumberland however may want to spoil the party as they are the only undefeated Under 15 team this year having won 11 games and drawing 2. Funny enough, the last time these two sides met in June, it was a 1-1 draw at Ellis Park. This match kicks-ff at 12:30pm on Pitch 2.

The Under 17 Cup Final will see Metro United WFC return for redemption after last year’s loss to Campbelltown City. This year they face Cumberland United who won’t be an easy win. Cumberland have only lost 1 match this year, to Adelaide Comets – Red. The two teams also met last Sunday, with Cumberland winning 3-0 convincingly. Metro will be out there on Sunday to get redemption and prove to Cumberland what Cup Final football feels like. This match kicks-off at 9:00am on Pitch 1.

The Division 4/5/6/Collegiate League Cup Final will take place on Pitch 1 at 11:15am. Pembroke Old Scholars are back for their 3rd consecutive final. After a heartbreak penalty shootout loss to Old Ignatians in 2016, and a 2-0 loss to Elizabeth Grove last year, the Blue and Gold will be looking to show fellow collegiate league side Westminster, what cup final football is all about. Both sides sit equal top on 24 points, only being separated by goal difference. Both encounters this season between the two sides have resulted in a win each. Will the result of this final prove to be an advantage for the remainder of the league season?

The Final match of the day will the Division 1/2/3 Cup Final. This match will kick-off at 1:30pm on Pitch 1 between newly formed White City and Adelaide University. What a matchup this is with White City who are a brand-new team in 2018, make it to a Cup Final in their inaugural season. May we add that they are a Division 3 side…. Their opponents however know what Cup Final victory feels like, when they beat Metro United in 2016. Adelaide University sit top of Division 1 with only losing 1 game all year. Their Division 3 opponents White City however should not be underestimated, with the Warriors sitting on top of Division 3, only losing 2 matches in their first season together. Can White City cap off a fairy-tale season with a Cup trophy? Or will Adelaide Uni look to spoil the party and win their 2nd cup in three years?

All the action kicks-off at 9:00am on Sunday August 19th at The VALO Football Centre, with Admission costing $5 for Adults & Concession, whilst Children Under 16 are FREE!!!
