'Legacy Carnival' celebrates 500 Days To Go until the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™

Over 200 juniors descended on VALO Football Centre on Friday night to take part in a special 'Legacy Carnival' at VALO Football Centre.

The event also celebrated today's (Monday) milestone of 500 Days To Go until the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™

The public were also given an opportunity to give their thoughts on how what legacy they'd like to see and posting their ideas on the Football SA 'Legacy Wall."

Football SA Vice President and Legacy Chair, Dr Jane Rathjen said

One of the most important things about today is people being able to 'Leave A Legacy' and to tell us what they want to see from this (the FWWC2023).

We're hoping that everyone that can do it, from the small ones that are just learning to write, right through to their parents and grandparents who have seen the journey we have been on over the past 50 to 100 years in this State. We want everyone to have a response and tell us what they are hoping for."

Football SA Legacy Ambassador, Natasha Stott Despoja AO added

It seems like only yesterday that we were part of the exciting bid for the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™. Now that it's real, and it's only 500 days away, it's time for everyone to get on board, everyone to get excited, start planning what your legacy is, how you can get involved.

And It's not just about supporting our wonderful Matildas, it's about growing the sport for everyone, and the earlier the better!"

To mark the occasion, all participants at the event joined forces to mark out the number '500' on Pitch One, prior to the WNPL Preseason Cup matches that commenced at 6.30pm. Football SA captured the spectacle with a drone.
