Liberals commit $2million to support Sturt Lions Football Club

A re-elected Morrison Government will provide $2 million to deliver upgraded facilities for the Sturt Lions Football Club at Karinya Reserve in Eden Hills. Nicolle Flint said supporting local sports clubs was a priority for the Morrison Liberal Government because of the social, health and economic benefits to the community.

“This funding will support the Sturt Lions Football Club to install a synthetic pitch at Karinya Reserve as well as new clubrooms,” Ms Flint said.

“I want men and women in our community to be able to play the sport of their choice and a lack of facilities should not be a barrier to this participation.

“The Sturt Lions have been forced to find alternative playing locations outside of our community due to a lack of facilities and growing player numbers.

“I have worked closely with the Club over the past few years and am delighted to have secured this commitment to support this fantastic local club now and into the future.”

A re-elected Morrison Liberal Government will also deliver $400,000 to install oval drainage and irrigation at Hewett Reserve in Blackwood, which is also used by the Sturt Lions Football Club for training and games.

"This builds on our existing commitments and strong record of funding for grassroots sport in our community,” Ms Flint said.

“In addition to our commitment for Hewett Reserve, I was proud to support the Sturt Lions Football Club to secure a $200,000 Community Sport Infrastructure Grant earlier this year for the installation of new lights at Manson Oval in Bellevue Heights”.
