Liberia Crowned 2017 RAA African Nations Cup Adelaide Champions

Liberia have been crowned the 2017 RAA African Nations Cup Champions, defeating DR Congo 3 – 0 in front of more than 2,000 spectators on Monday October 2nd.

More than 450 players representing 16 different countries participated in the 3 day event, played at the Parks Football Centre.

Both teams eased through the group stage of the tournament without facing defeat.

DR Congo overcame Libya 6 – 2 in their Quarter Final, then trumped tournament favourites and 2016 Champions Burundi 3 – 2 to progress to the Grand Final.

The eventual champions overcame Somalia 5 – 0 in their Quarter Final, backing this performance up with a 3 – 1 win over 2015 Champions Sierra Leone in their Semi Final.

The event also featured a women's exhibition match, where 28 women and girls from competing nations formed two teams, with African Nations Red defeating African Nations Blue 3 - 1 in an entertaining game.
