Campbelltown hosted NSW Premiers Sydney Olympic this past Saturday at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre in the Semi-Final of the NPL Finals Series.
It took two minutes for the first goal to come, Olympic's Max Burgess unleashing a perfectly executed left foot strike, rocketing past Campbelltown City shot-stopper Nick Harpas.
An even first half saw Campbelltown push for the equaliser, and their luck turned a few minutes before half-time. Winger Yohei Matsumoto showing his class on the wing, beating the Sydney left-back and cutting the ball cross to Marc Marino who was able to level things up in the 43rd minute.
Campbelltown looked like the better side early in the second half, creating a number of chances in the opening 10 minutes without being able to capitalise.
Sydney slowly got back into the game and in the 86th minute, it looked like the game was won by Abbas Saad's side. Max Burgess was involved again, putting the ball in the back of the net, only to be denied by the offside flag.
Deep into stoppage time, the Red Devils were awarded a penalty after a great run from attacker Lui Ditroia, who was bought down in the box by Jinya An. Captain Ian Fyfe stepped up to the spot and made no mistake about it, putting Campbelltown into the Grand Final.

Lions beat Victorian Premiers Heidelberg United in a penalty shoot out last week, with scores level after 120 minutes of football played.
Lions FC are coached by a former Hyundai A-League player Warren Moon, who played with Queensland Roar. He joined the club in 2015 and has taken his side to an FFA Cup appearance this year against fellow South Australian and A-League side, Adelaide United.
Lions biggest threat is start striker and Czech import Marek Madle. He joined the club mid-way through this season, recording an impressive 18 goals in 14 appearances for the club.
The NPL Finals Series brings together the eight teams who finished top of their respective NPL standings at the end of their regular seasons to determine Australia’s best NPL side.
2018 marks the sixth edition of the NPL Finals Series, which was last year won by Heidelberg United FC. Sydney United 58 FC won the inaugural competition in 2013 and in 2016, while MetroStars SC (2014) and Blacktown City FC from New South Wales (2015) have also been crowned Champions of the series in the past.
The Red Devils will look to add a third piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet, after winning both the League and NPL SA Grand Final already this year. Arguably one of Joe Mullen's best campaigns in charge at Campbelltown, a win Sunday would secure a 2019 FFA Cup spot.
Campbelltown City will host Lions FC in the 2018 NPL Finals Series Grand Final at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre on Sunday the 30th of September, with the match kicking off at 5pm.
