New Futsal program to launch in the Riverland

Football Federation SA (FFSA) has been on the road supporting the RSA (Riverland Soccer Association) ahead of the launch of a new Futsal program in the Riverland. 

FFSA Coach Education manager Cristiano Dos Santos ran an education session at Barmera Soccer Club last Saturday night, giving coaches the tools to deliver a quality a new futsal program. 

The Riverland Futsal program aims to develop fundamental skills for both boys and girls through Futsal, with a smaller size group of no more than 14 players. The program hopes to run all year round, similar to the FFSA Futsal Academy format in metropolitan Adelaide.

The visit concluded with some Futsal sessions at Loxton Lutheran School, with sessions for U10s, U12s, U14s, and U16s.

Riverland Soccer Association are pleased to confirm that the below coaches have been assigned to each age group.

U10 - James Wallace

U14 - Marty Barber
U16 - Kevin Barber

All the Coaches have now received a 10-week program with all the sessions to be delivered weekly.

RSA's Patty Harrison has worked hard to promote futsal in the region. Last year alone, the association had 120 players playing in their offseason futsal competition.

The aim is to have over 200 players playing in the local futsal competition in 2019.
