A Lui Ditroia brace and an Alex Mullen header, secured a 3-0 victory over Canberra FC for Campbelltown City in the National Premier Leagues Final Series.

The Red Devils travelled to Canberra this past Saturday to take on Capital Football Premiers Canberra FC in the elimination round of the series, with the winner of the competition earning a spot in the FFA Cup.

Joe Mullen's side took 6 minutes to break the deadlock, as Alex Mullen put his side in the lead. Yohei Matsumoto's corner was met perfectly by Mullen, who was able to escape his marker near the back post.

With most of the game dominated by Campbelltown, Lui Ditroia was able to double the scoreline, as he slotted his first of the evening in the 78th minute. Canberra's shot-stopper Jordan Thurtell punched a high cross into the path of Ditroia, who skipped around the defense and placed his shot down the middle.

His second came in stoppage time, as Alex Mullen's long range effort smacked the cross bar and fell to Ditroia, who calmly placed the ball in the bottom right corner.

Campbelltown City will now host 2018 NPL NSW Premiers Sydney Olympic in the semi-finals at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre this Saturday at 3pm.

Sydney knocked off Perth Soccer Club this past Saturday night, as a Marek Madle’s fourth-minute strike was enough to secure the victory.

Sydney Olympic have a long history in Australian football and are a dominant side in NSW. Hall of Fame member Abbas Saad was appointed coach a week before the season, achieving a double in silverware in his first year at the club. Star Striker Alejandro Sanchez Lopez will be threat this Saturday, as he netted 19 goals in all competitions this year. Olympic captured the title on the last game of the season, beating Sydney United, while APIA Leichhardt lost their last match, giving up the title to Saad and his side.

Campbelltown City also achieved the double this year, with Joe Mullen winning his third championship at the club. Leading goal scorer Dion Kirk suffered an injury in the NPL SA Grand Final, which will keep him out of the entire finals series, but players like Alex Mullen, Lui Ditroia, Anthony Ture and Adam Piscioneri look to succeed Kirk's goal scoring form.

Both sides will meet at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre on Saturday the 22nd of September, with the match kicking off at 3pm. The match will also be live streamed on www.nationalpremierleagues.com.au
