2018 NPL Final Series First Leg of the Semi Final: Adelaide City 0 – 0 Campbelltown City

Summary:
For the second leg of the semi-final, Adelaide City will travel to Campbelltown City where the winner will book their place in the Grand Final at Coopers Stadium on September 1.

Adelaide City will look to scoring power house Anthony Costa to snatch a valuable away goal this week. Costa missed out on the golden boot award for 2018 by a single goal, where it came down to the last game of the season between he and MetroStars’ own prolific goal scorer Christian Esposito. It was Esposito who claimed the individual honour that day through a first half header.

Campbelltown have been the in-form side this season, which has been acknowledged by various coaches and players throughout the media this week. They’ll be looking to capitalise on the home ground advantage, not losing a league game all season at Steve Woodcock.

A scoreless draw will see the game go into extra time to determine a winner.

With both teams needing a win to advance the Grand Final, this will be a tight affair. Head down to Steve Woodcock Sports Centre to see all the action live or tune into Radio Italia 531am for live commentary.

Last time they met:
2018 NPL Round 14 – Adelaide United 2 – 1 MetroStars

Summary:

MetroStars will host Adelaide United on Saturday for a second time this season, where both sides will be aiming to keep their finals campaign alive.

The last time these two teams met was at Smith Partners Stadium in Round 13, on that occasion Adelaide United secured a 2-1 win.

The game started in Metro’s favour after a 9th minute penalty was awarded to Christian Esposito. As expected from the league’s top scorer, he comfortably converted from the spot.

Pacifique Niyongabire then equalised in the 24th minute to tie the scores up heading into the half time break.

Adelaide United came out strong in the second half, the ever reliable Carlo Armiento slotting the winner in the 78th minute.

MetroStars battled but were unable to break through a very well structured United defense, the Youth Team eventually walking away with the 3 points.

The match will kick-off 2:30pm at TK Shutter Reserve. Full coverage starts just before 2:30pm, so be sure to tune into the FFSA Facebook page for the live stream broadcast or via radio broadcast at Radio Boss http://c3.radioboss.fm:8019/stream & TuneIn  App. https://tunein.com/radio/Adelaide-Web-Radio-s304622/
