Raiders vs MetroStars
Venue: Croatian Sports Centre
Date: 18/09/2020 08:15 PM

It's 2nd vs 6th to open up this weekend's of NPLSA fixtures under the lights at Croatian Sports Centre on Friday night.

MetroStars are seeking their 4th win on the bounce, while Raiders haven't won in their last four attempts.

MetroStars sent a huge message to the rest of the league last weekend with a resounding 5-1 victory over champions Campbelltown City. A win for the Klemzig based club will put them level on points with table-toppers Comets, albeit until they play on Saturday.

A win for Raiders though will push them into the top four.

Croydon Kings vs Adelaide City
Venue: Jack Smith Park
Date: 19/09/2020 02:30 PM

Croydon Kings welcomes Adelaide City to Jack Smith Park on Saturday afternoon in a huge finals six-pointer.

With one point separating the sides sitting in 4th and 5th respectively, a win for Croydon would see a valuable 4 point cushion between them and the former NSL giants.

The Kings are stereotypically ending their campaign in form, with three wins on the bounce, helped by  a red hot Domenic Costanzo.

City though, with no win in there last 3 matches, will be looking to Terence Carter to add to his 7 goal tally to keep the Black Whites near the top of the table.

Modbury Jets vs Cumberland United
Venue: Smith Partners Stadium
Date: 19/09/2020 03:00 PM

In a repeat of the 2019 State League One Grand Final, both promoted sides meet as NPL sides once again on Saturday afternoon at Smith Partners Stadium.

With the Foxes proving to be a surprise package in 2020, a win to them would well and truly keep them in the Finals hunt, and with Thomas Briscoe on fire in front of goals, anything is possible.

The Jets enjoyed their first win since the COVID restart last weekend with a big 4-2 victory at Olympic. The Northern based club will give anything for a second successive win, which could see them have a 6 point cushion above the relegation zone by the end of the weekend.

Campbelltown City vs Adelaide Comets
Venue: Steve Woodcock Sports Centre
Date: 19/09/2020 03:00 PM

This week’s MATCH OF THE ROUND will see league leaders Adelaide Comets take on reigning champions Campbelltown City, with both teams needing to rebound from a poor Round 8 showing.

Comets have earned themselves a valuable three-point gap at the top of the ladder and will be hoping to maintain that distance, with the in-form MetroStars breathing down their neck.

Barney Smith’s side slumped to a shock 4-0 defeat to the Young Reds at SA Athletics Stadium last week, their first defeat since back in July and only the third time they have been kept scoreless for the entire season.

The Red Devils will head into the game off the back of their own slip-up, falling to a rampant MetroStars 5-1 at TK Shutter Reserve last Friday. Iain Fyfe will take the reins following the resignation of Phil Stubbins during the week and will be hoping the change in leadership can inspire a return to form.

Adelaide United FC vs Para Hills Knights
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: 19/09/2020 05:00 PM

In a high stakes game for both sides, the repercussions for the loser of this battle may well be dire. Adelaide United currently sit in 11th place on 12 points, while Para Hills remain rooted to the bottom of the table on 8 points.

United rocked the competition last week, with a 4-0 demolition of league leaders Adelaide Comets, handing Barney Smith’s side their first defeat since July.

Knights secured a valuable point in Round 8 against Blue Eagles at Marden and have been churning out some solid performances without reaping any reward, losing 1-0 to league leaders Comets and dropping a two-goal lead at the death against second-placed MetroStars.

Pezos’ side will once again be buoyed by the return of their A-League credentialled playing stocks and will be aiming for back to back wins to inspire a late run for the finals but first and foremost to avoid a relegation fight.

Adelaide Olympic vs Adelaide Blue Eagles
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: 19/09/2020 07:00 PM

Adelaide Olympic will be eager to bounce back from last week’s 4-2 loss at the hands of struggling Modbury, who recorded their first victory since the competition restart.

A win would have seen Olympic launch themselves into serious contention for a top-six place. While finals are still within reach, they now sit three points off the pace of the middle pack.

Meanwhile, Adelaide Blue Eagles, who had recorded two wins in their previous three games, slumped to a 1-1 draw against bottom-placed Para Hills Knights away from home.

Gluscevic’s side currently sit in seventh place on 21 points, along with Raiders and Cumberland United. A win here is a must if they are to be around the mark as the regular season draws to a close.
