The revitalised Comets will be looking to make it 5 from 5 as they take on Adelaide City tonight at Jack Smith Park.
Since taking the reins a month ago, Kon Antoniou has his boys firing, to now sit only one point behind league leaders Adelaide Blue Eagles, who they accounted for back in Round 7.
Andreas Wiens has founded his scoring boots once again, netting 5 goals from his last four appearances including a brace two weeks ago against the top side.
Adelaide City contrastingly has had a turbulent start under Michael Matricciani, showing glimpses of class at times but unable to maintain the form expected of the black and whites.
City’s last league win came back in Round 6 against Adelaide Olympic, their last two fixtures ending in defeats to lowly West Adelaide and Para Hills Knights respectively.
Will Comets continue their upward trajectory or can City claw back out of the bottom two? This one is sure to be a season definer.

MetroStars vs West Adelaide, Saturday 2:30 pm at TK Shutter Reserve
This week’s Match of the Round Live Stream game will see MetroStars run out on their recently completed artificial pitch for the first time this year, where they’ll battle it out with a revived West Adelaide.
After a horrid start to the season, West Adelaide has now recorded back to back wins and will be hoping to continue their climb up the ladder.
Metro currently sit 4th on the table, bouncing back from two consecutive defeats with a last gasp 1-0 win over Raider in their most recent league fixture.
The versatile Lachlan Barr continues to impress for Saraceno’s side, as does off-season recruit Dylan Smith, who scored the 85th-minute winner against Raider in Round 8 with a slick control-finish to take his tally to 3 for the year.
West Adelaide last week farewelled star recruit Marcelo Carusca, who announced his retirement from football after a glittering career. This presents a challenge for Steve De Giovannielllo to replace experience on the field but an opportunity to bloody youth as they fight to break away from the bottom of the pack.

Adelaide Blue Eagles vs Raiders, Saturday 3:00 pm at Marden Sports Complex
Who would’ve picked this at the start of the season… The two most recently promoted sides sitting in 1st place (5 wins) and 5th place (4 wins) after 8 Rounds.
Blue Eagles currently sit top of the table on 17 points, kickstarting their season with a win over 2018 Champions Campbelltown City in Round 1 and only have one defeat to their name as we approach Round 9.
Raiders have struggled for consistency the past month, dropping points to MetroStars and Comets but claiming victories against the fancied Adelaide Olympic and Campbelltown City sides earlier in the season.
The McCabe twins continue to shine for the Marden based club, Hamish proving to be a prolific finisher from midfield while Liam is always a threat from wide areas. With equal golden boot leader Emanuele Testardi out suspended, Stefan Gluscevic will lead the line as number 9 for another few weeks.
This one shapes up as another match of the round contender!

Croydon Kings welcomes NPL champs Campbelltown City to Polonia Reserve on Saturday afternoon, with both sides looking to keep the pressure on the chasing pack.
Kings will be desperately hoping for a first win in seven games after five consecutive draws which were followed by a narrow loss to table-toppers Blue Eagles two weeks ago. However, the Kings progressed in the FFA Cup last weekend with a 2-1 home win over Playford City, which will surely give them some confidence heading into Saturday.
Meanwhile, Campbelltown City is looking to win back to back league games for the first time this season. The Red Devils have 4 wins under their belts across 8 games but have won every other game. City had a weekend off too so some rest may help them to grab the points.
Campbelltown City was on fire last round with a smashing 4-1 win over Olympic. Matsumoto scoring the pick of the goals with a delightful lob from the edge of the box, which won the 9 News Adelaide Goal of the Week Facebook poll.

Adelaide Olympic vs Para Hills Knights

After a very bright start to the campaign, Olympic is desperately seeking a first win in 6 games as they welcome Para Hills Knights to VALO on Saturday evening.
Olympic has lost their last four league games respectively, most recently a 4-1 drubbing at Campbelltown City. Their form has seen them sink to 8th spot, just one point ahead of their visitors.
However, with Adelaide United slipping up at South Adelaide on Thursday night, the door has been left slightly ajar to sneak into the top six.
Olympic though will have their tails wagging after their FFA Cup win at Cumberland United FC last Saturday.
Para Hills looks to be slowly kicking into gear after a frustrating start to their season. Knights come into this one with two wins in their last three games. Vital wins against West Adelaide and Adelaide City sandwiched a great point at home to Campbelltown City.
Barney Smith’s side will be on cloud nine after their win at Oakden last round, and with Olympic hungry to bounce back, expect some fireworks at VALO on Saturday tea time.
