Open Letter to the Football Community

Dear Football Family

Football South Australia has released a series of statements to the Football Community over the last week regarding COVID-19. As you would all be aware, all organised grassroots and local club and association football activities (including training) have been nationally suspended until 14 April.

Football South Australia will use the period of suspension to further consult with its clubs and associations, health experts, government and the FFA's national framework. At the right time, we are committed to resume play for Football South Australia managed and coordinated competitions and will seek to put measures in place to achieve this, subject to clearance to do so.

It is important at this time of uncertainty, that we do not place added pressure on club leaders, who together with Football South Australia, are working through the ramifications of the suspension of competitions. We are all working in unison to manage matters to ensure the long-term sustainability of the game in the State.

Football South Australia is modelling various scenarios regarding the effects of the competitions’ suspension – particularly the direct impact on players, parents, club officials, volunteers and the broader football community and will keep all stakeholders informed of further developments.

Staying united in our approach will ensure that we are best placed to navigate our way through the uncertainties and complexities in these unprecedented times.

Kind regards,

Michael Carter
