RAA NPLSA Goals Wrap | Round Four

Reigning champions Campbelltown City’s winless start to the NPL season stretched to four matches as they were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Adelaide Olympic which saw five goals scored in 13 second-half minutes.

It was Campbelltown who took the lead in the 28th minute, as a looping Joel Allwright corner was squared by Luigi Ditroia, flicked on by Trey Williams and tapped in at the back post by Marc Marino.

Olympic eventually levelled the score in the 64th minute, as captain Fausto Erba was teed up outside the box and arrowed a powerful strike into the bottom corner.

It took only two minutes for the home side to find the back of the net again, as a dribbling ball into the box found the feet of Ioannis Simosis, who smashed his shot home from close range to put Olympic 2-1 up.

Their lead lasted only two minutes, though, as Williams converted Marino’s cross from the back post to restore parity in the contest for Campbelltown.

Olympic went ahead once again in the 75th minute through Christos Pounendis’ well-placed shot, but Campbelltown equalised for the second time thanks to Ditroia finish from Alexander Mullen’s low ball into the box to make it 3-3.

Adelaide United won 4-2 against Adelaide Blue Eagles in another six-goal thriller, while Adelaide Comets came from a goal down to secure a 3-2 win over South Adelaide.

Adelaide City and Adelaide Croatia Raiders registered impressive away wins over Sturt Lions and Cumberland United respectively, while MetroStars and Croydon Kings played out a 0-0 stalemate.
