It all comes down to this, Adelaide City’s Premiership hopes are now all in their hands, with the team now only needing a win over Adelaide Olympic to secure their first RAA NPLSA Premiership since 2016. Adelaide City has experienced a season to remember, with the team having only lost once in their 21 games thus far this season. Surprisingly, although the dominance of the team this season, their Premiership hopes still comes down to the final day of the RAA NPLSA season. Adelaide City head into Round 22 in great spirits as they are currently experiencing a run of three consecutive wins, including a 3-1 win over South Adelaide in Round 21 where an Aladin Irabona double and Charlie Devereux strike kept the team at the top of the table. A win is needed for Adelaide City to secure the Premiership, with Campbelltown City only one point behind and Adelaide Comets three points.

Adelaide City were the victors in their last meeting with Adelaide Olympic in Round 11, where a 19th-minute Thomas Brown header and a 90th-minute Aladin Irabona penalty secured the 2-0 victory.

Currently, three points off relegation, Adelaide Olympic’s fight for survival is almost secured with only one match remaining. Adelaide Olympic was moments away last week from securing their RAA NPLSA status for season 2023, however, a last-minute Cumberland United goal saw the away team take all three points, providing them with a fighting chance. However, only a point is needed for Adelaide Olympic to stay within the league. At the same time, even a loss could see the team remain in the league, with Cumberland United needing to overturn a 21-goal difference on the final day.

Cumberland United’s fight for survival comes down to the final day, with a major uphill battle ahead. Currently sitting three points off survival, Cumberland United will need a win of great proportion and an Adelaide Olympic loss to stay in the RAA NPLSA in season 2023. To have a fighting chance on the final day, Cumberland United secured a great win over Adelaide Olympic last week as a 90th-minute Harry Thannhauser goal gave his team the three points. To stay within the league next season, Cumberland United must look to overturn a +21-goal difference again Campbelltown City.

Campbelltown City were victors in their encounter with Cumberland United as the game finished 4-2. Campbelltown City took a 4-0 lead through a Marc Marino brace and goals by Luigi Ditroia and Joel Allwright, while Sam Carmichael and Yuya Taguchi restored two back for Cumberland United.

Since their Round 13 loss to MetroStars, Campbelltown City has been unstoppable, in a run that has seen them win all their last eight games to take them to one point off the top spot. During this run, Campbelltown City has won all these games by only a single goal with numerous coming in the dying minutes of the match. Alex Mullen’s incredible performances this season, which has seen him score 13 goals in 17 games from midfield, contribute to the team's second place position. A win for Campbelltown City will see the team secure their top two status, with an Adelaide City loss earning them the Premiership and their first since 2019.

(21/5/22) Round 11, Adelaide Comets 2 v Croydon FC 0

Croydon FC
Facebook: Croydon FC

After facing back-to-back losses, Croydon FC’s top six hopes lie upon their encounter with Adelaide Comets in Round 22. Having experienced a difficult period throughout Round 8 to Round 16 where the team won only one in nine games, Croydon FC looked to have turned a corner and was heading for a strong end to the season with three consecutive wins. However, facing consecutive defeats including a 2-1 loss to Campbelltown City last week has seen Croydon FC drop out of the top six, with two points currently separating them and fifth and sixth-placed. A win for Croydon FC could potentially see them secure a place in this season's Finals Series if FK Beograd and Adelaide United FC drop any points.

Croydon FC was unable to secure any points in their last meeting with Adelaide Comets, as goals by Nikolas Ikonomopoulos and Anthony Mavrolambados earned their team a 2-0 victory.

Falling out of the top two after a 3-2 loss to Campbelltown City in Round 20, Adelaide Comets was eager to redeem themselves and demonstrate their quality as they beat top six hopefuls Adelaide United FC 7-0 last week. It was a goal fest for Adelaide Comets on the day which saw six players get their names on the scoresheet including a double by Logan Marley-Mcfall. Currently sitting outside the top two, an Adelaide Comets win and Campbelltown City draw or loss will see the team regain their top two status, while an Adelaide City loss could potentially see them steal the Premiership.

(21/5/22) Round 11, FK Beograd 1 v Sturt Lions 1

FK Beograd
Facebook: White City FC Beograd

After 21 rounds, Sturt Lions enter their final game of the 2022 season in a matchup with top six hopefuls FK Beograd. Currently sitting in ninth, five points above relegation and seven points off the top six, Sturt Lions will look to end their season in great spirits by securing their seventh win. After a difficult run of form which saw the team lose six of their last eight games, Sturt Lions will hope to end their season on a high.

In their last matchup, the game finished level, with goals by Joshua Mori and Alex Sortini seeing the game end in a 1-1 draw.

It’s been an excellent first season back in the RAA NPLSA for FK Beograd, with the team sitting in sixth, only one win off a place in the Finals Series. After facing back-to-back defeats in Round 19 and 20, FK Beograd’s top six hopes look to have slipped away, however, a 3-2 win over the relegated WT Birkalla last week, which saw a Joshua Mori double and a 90th-minute Massimo Falco saw the team restore their sixth-placed status. Joshua Mori will be looking to secure the Golden Boot this week as he looks to improve on his already 18 goals. A win is needed for FK Beograd to secure their place in the top six, with the team hoping to jump into fifth.

(21/5/22) Round 11, WT Birkalla 2 v Adelaide United FC 1

West Torrens Birkalla SC
Facebook: West Torrens Birkalla SC

Like FK Beograd, Adelaide United FC’s top six hopes come down to the final day, with a win guaranteeing their place in the 2022 Finals Series. Adelaide United FC has been the entertainers of the 2022 season, with spectators always treated to goals when the team is in action. Currently sitting as the league’s top goal scorers with 51 goals scored, Adelaide United FC also sits as the highest conceding team in the competition with 54 goals conceded, with over 100 goals scored across Adelaide United FC's 21 matches thus far. Adelaide United FC will be hoping to secure a fifth-placed finish as they look to avoid a potential showdown with Adelaide Comets in the Finals Series after their 7-0 defeat last week.

WT Birkalla secured one of their three victories this season as they beat Adelaide United FC 2-1 in Round 11. A 33rd-minute Asad Kasumovic goal saw Adelaide United FC take a 1-0 lead before WT Birkalla secured the victory through a Yasmin Sudic penalty and a goal by Nathan Munro.

Having experienced their seventh consecutive loss last week as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to FK Beograd, WT Birkalla will finish the season at the bottom of the RAA NPLSA ladder as they face the drop-down to State League One. With nothing to play for, WT Birkalla will be hoping to put an end to their seven-game losing streak and end the season on a high.

MetroStars vs South Adelaide

Last Meeting:
(21/5/22) Round 11, South Adelaide 1 v MetroStars 0

MetroStars

Securing fourth place with no way of gaining third or dropping to fifth, MetroStars have their eyes set on an impressive Finals Series campaign. Although unable to climb the ladder, MetroStars will still be hoping to contribute a strong showing in their matchup with South Adelaide as they look to enter the Finals Series on a three-game winning streak. Last week, young attacker Francesco Schimizzi was able to find MetroStars winner as they beat Sturt Lions 1-0, providing him great confidence heading into the final games of the season.

South Adelaide were 1-0 victors in their last showdown with MetroStars, as a Jonathon Rideout goal before the half-time break earned the team three points.

South Adelaide’s season enters its final match with the current eighth-placed team unable to make the top six and is currently clear of relegation. The team faced their eleventh defeat of the season as they were unable to make Donovan Pollock’s 20th-minute goal count as they lost 3-1 to league leaders Adelaide City. South Adelaide will be hoping to secure their seventh win of the season, while Jonathon Rideout will hope to attempt to catch league-leading goal scorer Joshua Mori.

State League One

State League One

The State League One season is heading into its final round, with numerous teams still having much on the line. With Modbury Jets already securing the Premiership and promotion back into the RAA NPLSA, several teams are looking to gain an advantage in the Finals Series as they search to secure second place. Adelaide Blue Eagles are currently in pole position as they head into Round 22 in second with a superior goal difference to competitors Para Hills Knights and West Adelaide. A win for Adelaide Blue Eagles will see them secure second place, however, the team must overcome a rejuvenated Adelaide Victory team who have won two of their last three games. In other action will see the current third place side Para Hills Knights face off against fifth-placed Adelaide Croatia Raiders. Para Hills Knights have regained great form in recent weeks, winning their last two, however, the team must secure a victory in Round 22 to potentially go second, with a loss possibly seeing them drop to fourth. West Adelaide will be hungry to regain their second-place position as they look to put an end to a five-game winless run that has seen them draw all five. Facing the already relegated Adelaide University SC, West Adelaide will be hoping that a win will see them climb back up the ladder and secure a good position for the first week of the Finals Series.

Fulham United FC and Port Adelaide are set to face off in a hard-hitting showdown, with the winner of the encounter entering this season's Finals Series. Fulham United FC currently has the advantage heading into tomorrow's matchup, with the team sitting two points clear of Port Adelaide, meaning a draw will be enough for the team to enter the Finals Series. It’s been an incredible end to the season for Fulham United FC which has seen them go nine games unbeaten, with the team potentially entering the Finals Series ten games unbeaten. Their opponents Port Adelaide have experienced a great return to State League One in season 2022, with the team now only one win off a place in the Finals Series. Having lost two consecutive games, Port Adelaide bounced back in impressive fashion last week as a 3-2 win over Eastern United kept them in contention for sixth-placed. A win is required for Port Adelaide in Round 22, as a draw or loss will see them miss out on Final football in 2022.

State League Two

State League Two

After Round 21 saw Adelaide Cobras secure the Premiership and Vipers FC secure second, Round 22 in State League Two has much on the line for numerous clubs in their race for the top six. Although already securing their top six place, Western Strikers need a victory over Pontian Eagles SC in Round 22 as a loss could potentially see the team drop to fifth which will see them lose their advantage in the first round of the Finals Series. Cove FC will be eager to confirm their place in the Finals Series, however, must look to overcome second-place Vipers FC. A win for Cove FC will secure their place, while a draw may be enough if other results go in their favour. Current fifth placed Salisbury United faces bottom side Gawler Eagles FC, with the team needing three points, with only one point currently separating themselves and seventh-placed Northern Demons. The sixth-placed Seaford Rangers currently remain in the top six only on goal difference, meaning three points are vital in their showdown with Noarlunga United with a loss or a draw and a Northern Demons win seeing the team drop to seventh. Northern Demons look to jump into the top six with a win over Mount Barker United SC this weekend. Currently sitting in seventh, Northern Demons sit outside the top six on goal difference, however, the team could potentially jump into fourth if other results go in their favour.
