Referee Seminar 2025: A Day of Insights and Development

On Sunday, February 2, Football South Australia hosted the 2025 Senior Referee Seminar at ServiceFM Stadium. The event brought together over 90 senior match officials for a day of learning, discussion, and professional development delivered by distinguished guest speakers, the seminar set the tone for the upcoming season.

 

Panel Discussion – Perspectives in the Game

This year’s seminar introduced a fresh approach with a panel discussion featuring key stakeholders from different areas of football. The discussion centred on communication, decision-making, and the challenges faced by referees, players, and coaches alike. This fostered an open dialogue with hopes to build understanding between all involved in the game.

Keynote Speaker – Jon Moss head of Referee Football Australia

The highlight of the afternoon was the keynote presentation by Jon Moss, former EPL referee and Football Australia’s new Head of Referees Football Australia. Jon provided a very entertaining session, sharing some of his past experiences along with covering season priorities and offering insight into the evolving landscape of refereeing.

The 2025 Senior Referee Seminar was a resounding success, providing referees with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to approach the new season. By fostering dialogue between referees, players, and coaches, the seminar highlighted the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in maintaining the integrity of the game. With the guidance of experts like Jon Moss, Football SA referees are well-equipped for the challenges ahead.
