Modbury Jets vs Para Hills Knights
Venue: Smith Partners Stadium
Date: 28/02/2020 08:15 PM

The Northern Derby is back!

Modbury Jets and Para Hills face each other in the league for the first time in four years. The rivals last met in June 2016, with Para Hills running away 3-0 winners at Smith Partners Stadium when both sides were playing in State League One. Times have changed since then though, with both sides now in the states top flight.

Modbury Jets will be wearing a special heritage kit for the match, with blue and white hoops the order of the day to honour the clubs history.

The Jets have hit the ground running, with a smash and grab 1-0 win over last season's GF finalists, Adelaide Comets. Kur Kur firing home a superb first-half effort to give the Jets the perfect start to the campaign.

Knights though are also coming off a surprise win. Many tipped Theo Tsionis's side to struggle on an opening day battle with Croydon Kings, but two sublime lobs from Travalglione and Marley McFall gave the Knights all three points.

With a big crowd expected under the lights at Smith Partners Stadium, there is a real sense of excitement for the local community.

Raiders vs Campbelltown City
Venue: Croatian Sports Centre
Date: 28/02/2020 07:30 PM

Raiders welcome champions Campbelltown City to Croatian Sports Centre on Friday night.

Kuzman's side were blown away on the opening day by the youngsters of Adelaide United and will be gunning for a quick reaction. Facing the champs in Round Two is a challenge in itself, but straight after a defeat like last weekend makes the challenge even greater.

Raiders will be sweating on the inclusion of new German recruit Daniel Kornagel who missed out on Round One and is gunning to make his Raiders debut.

Campbelltown City will be hoping this game will be less stressful than last weeks curtain-raiser.  The Red Devils scored two late goals against Adelaide Blue Eagles in what was Phil Stubbins first game in charge.

The Piscioneri brothers will be keen to steal the show again, with older brother Adam stating after the game how "proud" he was to set up us his younger sibling Anthony for the winner.

Croydon Kings vs Adelaide United FC
Venue: Jack Smith Park
Date: 28/02/2020 08:15 PM

Croydon Kings are to start life away from their beloved Polonia Reserve as they move into Jack Smith Park on Friday night, and a young, vibrant Adelaide United side are hoping to spoil the housewarming party.

The Reds were impressive against Raiders last weekend in front of the onlooking senior coaching staff. Young prodigy Mohamed Toure started his NPLSA 2020 season with confidence, while Binyam Kebede stole the show with a double brace and Jai King getting in the act too.

Croydon Kings and Hyundai A-League veteran John Hall will be keen to prove his critics wrong, with the experienced keeper caught off his line twice in last weekends 2-1 defeat to Para Hills.

Cumberland United vs MetroStars
Venue: A.A Bailey Reserve
Date: 29/02/2020 03:00 PM

Words by Jason Cavey (@JasonKVOfficial)

MetroStars will be looking to bounce back quickly after a shock 3-0 loss (highlights here) at the hands of Adelaide Olympic last Saturday evening. Rob Saraceno will be demanding a response from his squad after a disappointing performance.

Meanwhile, Cumberland also started the season with a 3-0 loss, away to Adelaide City. Cumberland were unlucky to concede a soft penalty which was dispatched by Nick Bucco in the 21st minute. A double from Perry Mitris denied the Foxes a dream return to the top flight. Former MetroStars forward Matthew Charalambous will a familiar face among the opposition having spent the last two seasons at T.K. Shutter Reserve.

OLYCOM

Adelaide Olympic vs Adelaide Comets
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: 29/02/2020 07:00 PM

Olympic will be aiming to continue their superb opening day form when they welcome Comets to VALO Football Centre on Saturday night.

George Tsonis's side produced a clinical performance and blew away MetroStars 3-0 in their own back yard last weekend.

The defeat was Barney Smith's first game in charge of Comets, which meant a continuation of his unwelcomed record of not winning any of his opening games as head coach in his entire career.

Last season's Grand Finalists had a hat full of chances at Modbury Jets during their 1-0 defeat, but with the likes of Matt Halliday at the base of the Olympic defence, chances may come in short supply.

Olympic did the treble over Comets in 2019, with two wins in the NPL and a 2-1 win in the FFA Cup Qualifier Semi-Final. Smith's side will be looking for revenge.

Adelaide Blue Eagles vs Adelaide City
Venue: Marden Sports Complex
Date: 2/03/2020 08:15 PM

Adelaide Blue Eagles and Adelaide City face off under the lights at Marden as Monday Night Football returns to the NPL.

If last year's encounter has anything to go by, this game should be a goal-fest, after the sides played out a 3-3 classic.

Blue Eagles, who conceded two late goals in last Friday's curtain-raiser at Campbelltown City, will be hoping new recruit Yohei Matsumoto continues his positive start to life in blue. The Japanese speedster scored on debut for the Marden based side and look dangerous throughout.

A newly built City side have hit the ground running with a comprehensive 3-0 opening-round win at home to Cumberland United. Perry Mitris looks right at home early on after his move from West Adelaide over the summer. Mitris slotted home twice to give Matricciani's side the perfect start to the campaign.
