MetroStars vs Modbury Jets
Venue: TK Shutter Reserve
Date: 14/08/2020 08:15 PM

Tonight’s fixture at TK Shutter Reserve sees two sides in significant form slumps at either end of the table face off for a crucial three points.

MetroStars were toppled from their position atop the ladder last weekend after their loss to Croydon Kings, leaving them in third and with just one win in their last five matches.

The Jets have similarly struggled recently, registering their first point since the season resumption in a 0-0 deadlock with Adelaide City, which snapped a five-match losing streak.

They are only separated by five points despite seven places sitting between the two sides, which highlights the closeness of the competition and solidifies this as a must win to avoid a further slide.

Para Hills Knights vs Raiders
Venue: The Paddocks
Date: 15/08/2020 03:00 PM

Raiders have hit a rough patch of late, failing to pick up consistent wins over the past month, and face a tough test in the form of the Knights away from home.

With one win in their last four matches, Raiders have failed to come away with the chocolates in their tests against fellow top sides MetroStars, Cumberland United and Comets.

Para Hills, meanwhile, remain in last place and without a point in three as we reach the halfway point of the season, with Raiders representing their third match in a row against a top five opponent.

The away side will be keen to boost their confidence and cement themselves as a top side, while Para Hills are desperate to keep their heads above water and move off the bottom.

Adelaide City vs Adelaide Olympic
Venue: Adelaide City Park
Date: 15/08/2020 03:00 PM

After experiencing a promising burst of form that saw them rise to second, City have fallen into another slump over the past three weeks and now face another side struggling to string results together in Olympic.

Most recently, the home side were unable to break down a Jets outfit who had not picked up a single point in five matches and extended their scoreless run to almost five hours of game time.

Olympic’s sharing of the spoils with Cumberland United last week was a welcome point that kept them in the top half, as one win in five has seen them slide further from the top.

As is the case with tonight’s game, two out of form sides face off against one another for an important three points and both look to shake up the table even more.

Adelaide Comets vs Croydon Kings
Venue: SA Athletics Stadium
Date: 15/08/2020 03:00 PM

A well-timed three match winning run has seen Comets snatch top spot on the ladder but face a challenge in the side that toppled the previous ladder leaders.

With comfortable wins against the lowly Adelaide United and Para Hills Knights under their belts, Comets made a statement by defeating Raiders on their own turf last Friday night.

The Kings have picked up three wins in their last five despite their inconsistency, with victories over finals rivals Olympic and MetroStars in the last two weeks, and sit in fourth.

Two of the league’s form teams will battle it out to earn their credentials as top sides this season, with Comets now there to be shot at in first.

Cumberland United vs Adelaide Blue Eagles
Venue: A.A Bailey Reserve
Date: 15/08/2020 03:00 PM

Both clubs have seen a dramatic improvement in fortunes since the restart, having lost just once between them, and sit next to one another on the table nearing the halfway mark.

United will enter the match disappointed not to have claimed all three points from their last encounter with an out of sorts Olympic, settling for a 0-0 draw, which would have seen them rise to fourth.

Blue Eagles’ three match winning streak was snapped by Adelaide United but still maintain an unbeaten run of six games and sit in eighth, a far cry from their position prior to the break.

With one point separating the sides, a win will go a long way to cementing either side’s finals aspirations.

Adelaide United FC vs Campbelltown City
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: 15/08/2020 03:00 PM

The home side picked up a second draw in a row against a higher-placed opponent last weekend but face a tough ask as they face one of the league’s form sides in City.

Despite keeping MetroStars and Blue Eagles at bay in the last two weeks, United still sit just a point above last place and without a win in eight games.

It has been a different story for City, with the 1-0 loss to MetroStars the only blight on an otherwise spotless five-week record that has seen them soar up the table into second.

City are now within striking distance of first place and will be eager to capitalise on any slip-up, while United will look to close in on the final product that has eluded their reach over the past few weeks.
