Cumberland United vs Adelaide Olympic
Venue: A. A. Bailey Reserve
Date: Saturday 26 September 3:00PM

On a day with all matches kicking off at the same time, Cumberland United host Adelaide Olympic in a significant match between two sides vying for finals football.

United picked up a close 2-1 victory at Modbury Jets last weekend, rebounding from their heavy loss at the hands of Croydon Kings to register their third win in five games.

Olympic snapped a three-match winless run last week with their 1-0 victory over Adelaide Blue Eagles to leapfrog their opponents and keep them within touching distance of the top half.

With both sides hovering around the finals mark, this fixture between United and Olympic is an opportunity for one club to strengthen its credentials as finals worthy as the season nears its end.

Adelaide City vs Modbury Jets
Venue: Adelaide City Park
Date: Saturday 26 September 3:00PM

City will be desperate to claim three points tomorrow against the lowly Jets after once again failing to secure victory last week.

Their loss to the Kings stretched their winless run to four matches, dragging them back down to sixth and into the mid-table scrap for finals football, and although they boast the league’s meanest defence (15) only rock-bottom Para Hills Knights have scored less goals than City’s 18.

The Jets were brought back to Earth after their drought-breaking victory over Olympic a fortnight ago, falling to Cumberland United and sliding down to 11th in the process.

The visitors are now six points from ninth and trailing the in-form Young Reds, making points a necessity from now on, and City are similarly under pressure to stave off their competition from below.

Adelaide Comets vs Raiders
Venue: SA Athletics Stadium
Date: Saturday 26 September 3:00PM

Back to back defeats have seen Comets’ grip on first place weakened, so they will enter their match with an out-of-sorts Raiders with renewed urgency.

The ladder leader’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Adelaide United was followed by a 3-2 defeat at Campbelltown City courtesy of an injury-time winner, reducing their lead over MetroStars and their opponents to just two points.

Raiders have now gone over a month without tasting victory, with a late goal against MetroStars last week securing their fourth draw in five weeks and a further drop to seventh.

Comets now have a fight on their hands to hold onto first, while Raiders are two points behind fifth and one ahead of ninth and are now vulnerable to wild swings in either direction.

MetroStars vs Croydon Kings
Venue: TK Shutter Reserve
Date: Saturday 26 September 3:00PM

Missing out on the opportunity to reclaim top spot will have stung MetroStars and they face another tough test tomorrow in the shape of the in-form Kings.

The home side led for over an hour in their clash with Raiders last week, only to concede late on to share the points and remain second on the ladder level with Campbelltown City.

The Kings are now one of the league’s form sides after winning their fourth match on the trot last weekend against Adelaide City, a run which has seen them scale the ladder into fourth and just two points behind tomorrow’s opponents.

A win for MetroStars will help put some distance between themselves and the mid-table challengers, but the Kings threaten to draw them into the scrap with a victory that would propel them ahead of the hosts.

Para Hills Knights vs Campbelltown City
Venue: The Paddocks
Date: Saturday 26 September 3:00PM

Things just haven’t clicked for the Knights this season and are in the midst of a miserable run, with Campbelltown City the next stern test facing them.

A run of just one point in their last nine games has left the Knights seven points adrift of the 11th placed Jets, most recently folding to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of lower-table rival Adelaide United.

City recovered from the humiliating 5-1 loss to MetroStars that saw them surrender second place to snatch a dramatic victory over first placed Comets, keeping them in the hunt for the premiership.

With few sides consistently registering three points per week, City know they must win to keep pressure on and remain in a position to capitalise on any slip-ups.

Adelaide United FC vs Adelaide Blue Eagles
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: Saturday 26 September 3:00PM

United have found a new lease on life after consecutive big wins, with the inconsistent Blue Eagles standing in the way of a third victory in a row.

The struggling Knights were the latest side to feel their wrath as the Young Reds swept them aside in a commanding 4-0 win, a result which saw them overtake the Jets in tenth and brought them within six points of ninth placed Blue Eagles.

Tomorrow’s visitors have not strung consecutive results together of any kind for over a month, most recently falling to their closest rivals on the ladder in Olympic.

Blue Eagles are still only three points behind fifth placed Cumberland United so they know that a win will have a chance to break the finals race wide open, but United in the form they’re in will present a difficult task.
