SA elite referee coach heads to Asia for FIFA instructor course

SA elite referee coach and Hyundai A-League assessor Nathan Magill, this week travelled to Seoul, Korea Republic, to attend a FIFA Futuro course, focusing on the education of referee technical instructors and referee fitness instructors from AFC member associations.

Nathan, along with two officials from Queensland, makes up a trio travelling from Australia who are attending the course from 29 July to 03 August.

Nathan is looking forward to being able to bring home some insights and take our elite referees to the next level.

I feel very proud to represent FFA and FFSA at an international level in Seoul. SA has a proud history of producing national and international Match Officials, so to be able to assist in the coaching and development of local officials is something that I consider myself privileged to be able to do.

Being able to provide the local group with the most recent teachings and direction direct from FIFA and AFC provides the group with the most up-to-date information and resources. I look forward to being able to share this experience and knowledge with the group."

This will be the fourth consecutive course that Nathan has attended, with 2016, 2017 & 2018 all conducted in Thailand. Nathan also attended a fifth FIFA course in 2013 for FFA instructors conducted in Canberra.

In addition to this, Nathan will be attending the Boy's National Youth Championships as the lead instructor, who is responsible for the refereeing aspects of the championships including talent ID, appointments and mentoring the instructors. This is the second year Nathan has been involved in this role.

Nathan has also been appointed to eight FFA national tournament since 2011 along with conducting elite accreditation courses for FFA.

Nathan has been involved as a Hyundai A-League assessor since 2013 making his debut on the elimination semi-final between Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar at Coopers Stadium. My 52 matches have included four semi-finals in addition to 1 FFA Final final (2018).
