SAJSA Country Championships

The 2018 SAJSA Country Championships were held on the 25th and 26th of August, hosted by Limestone Coast and Mt Gambier.

The tournament consisted of 50 teams with both boys and girls squads, ageing from U12s to U16s. 

The U12s, U12 D's and U16s competed for a spot in the final, with the top 2 of each league going through to the semi-final and then the final.  The winner of the final was then named the champions of the their respective age group. 

 All other age groups, played a number of games in a league styled tournament, with the leaders crowned champions.

U12 D:

Limestone Coast topped their group, finishing 3 points clear of Fleurieu Blue. Fleurieu Red topped their group, which set up a semi-final showdown between the two Fleurieu teams. Limestone Coast eased past Adelaide Hills, with Fleurieu Red beating Fleurieu Blue in a blockbuster match. In the final, it was all Limestone coast, who beat Fleurieu Red 10-0. 

U12:

Both Riverland and Sunraysia topped their groups respectively, both by goal difference. With Riverland finishing top, this meant they faced Limestone Coast in the semi-finals, while Sunraysia faced Fleurieu Blue. Both Limestone Coast and Sunraysia conquered their semi-final opponents, which saw Sunraysia beat the hosts to be crowned the U12 champions. 

U13:

The U13s tournament only saw 3 teams compete, including Limestone Coast, Fleurieu and Adelaide Hills. The battle for top heated up, but it was the hosts Limestone Coast who were champions of the U13s, beating Fleurieu by 1 point. 

U13 Girls:

The U13 girls saw 6 teams battle it out for the championship, but it was SEWFA Blue who ran out winners. There other team, SEWFA Red only managed a point and finished bottom. But SEWFA Blue were crowned winners, beating Adelaide Hills on goal difference. Both SEWFA and Hills finished 4 points clear of third place Sunraysia. 

U14:

The U14s competition was the last of three tournaments that consisted of a semi-final and a final. Limestone Coast topped group A, while Fleurieu Red were group B winners. Adelaide Hills and Sunraysia scrapped through to the semi-finals finishing second in their respective groups. Fleurieu Red and Limestone Coast were the two winners of the semi-final, but it was Fleurieu who were crowned the U14 champions beating Limestone Coast 7-2 in the final.  

U15:

Limestone Coast, Fleurieu, Riverland and Adelaide Hills all competed in the U15 tournament. A narrow battle to the end between Limestone Coast and Fleurieu saw both sides finish equal on points. But it was Limestone Coast who were the U15 champions, thanks to their stronger goal difference.  

U16:

A five team derby was the scene for the U16 tournament. The undefeated Fleurieu were the winners in this age group, collecting a maximum of 12 points. They finished 3 points clear of second placed Whyalla and 6 points clear of Limestone Coast. 

U16 Girls:

The U16 Girls saw a narrow battle till the end, but it was Sunraysia who were champions as they finished two points clear of SEWFA Blue. Sunraysia won all of their 4 matches, while SEWFA Blue and Broken Hill finished equal on points.
