Girls from across the State travelled to metropolitan Adelaide last week to participate in the Statewide Super Regional Girls Development Camp.

Earlier in the year, camps were held in Wallaroo during the April and July school holidays, exposing regionally based players to a high-performance training environment usually only accessible to city- based athletes.

Last week’s camp featured more than 30 players selected in the FFSA Regional State Teams, identified at camps held earlier this year, in preparation for the Girls State Identification Program event (also held last week) and trip to the Ultimate Fiji Cup later this year.

Football Federation South Australia will again be sending two girls teams to the annual overseas tournament, representing the State in the Under 15 and Under 17 age groups. Teams will depart in early December, where they’ll take on representative teams from around the globe.

Statewide Super features as inaugural naming rights partner of the camp, following on from joining forces with FFSA through the “We’ve Got This” women’s sport sponsorship program. You can learn more about joining the team behind FFSA here

The cost for regionally based athletes to participate in programs of this nature is a significant burden to parents and caregivers. Funding from Statewide Super will be used to reduce to costs associated with running regionally based programs for girls in South Australia.
