Toure head over heels at TK Shutter | RAA NPLSA Round 20 Wrap

A flurry of second half goals ensured an exciting finish to Saturday’s 2-2 draw between table toppers MetroStars and last-placed Adelaide United at TK Shutter Reserve.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes, but it was United who took a surprising lead on 53 minutes.

Young Reds attacker Musa Toure received the ball in his own half after a turnover, completed a complex dribble through the MetroStars defence and hit it sweetly into the top corner.

MetroStars hit back in the 72nd minute as Nahuel Bonada got past two United defenders to meet a cross with his head and fire into the net.

It looked as though the Reds would shock the ladder leaders and take all three points when, on 86 minutes, Ethan Alagich slid his shot past the keeper to restore the visitors’ advantage.

The match’s drama quota was not fully exhausted, however, as Hamish Gow curled his free kick in at the far post from a tight angle to equalise in injury time and rescue a point for MetroStars.

The result saw United move off the bottom on goals scored, ahead of Para Hills Knights, while MetroStars cling onto top spot despite three draws in their last four matches.

Croydon Kings triumphed in a high-scoring encounter with Adelaide Olympic that finished 4-2, while Adelaide Comets hit three goals in thirteen second half minutes in their 3-1 win over the Knights.

Two of the league’s form sides, Cumberland United and Raiders, played out a 1-1 draw and Campbelltown City and Adelaide Blue Eagles collected all three points in their 2-0 victories against Adelaide City and Modbury Jets respectively.
