Upgrade works commence at Modbury Jets SC

Football Federation South Australia is delighted to have upgrade works commence at the Modbury Jets facility in Tea Tree Gully.

The upgrade, which will replace an existing grass pitch with an artificial playing surface, will be completed for the beginning of the 2017 Season.

As reported by Messenger Community News last month, the project was funded through a $500,000 contribution from the State Government – as part of FFSA’s $10 million Facilities Fund, which was matched by the City of Tea Tree Gully Council.

FFSA Chief Executive, Michael Carter, highlights the many benefits from this project - the second of seven such upgrades to begin around the State in the near future.

“I’d firstly like to thank the City of Tea Tree Gully Council and the State Government for their contributions and cooperation to facilitate this project,” said Michael.

“The upgrade provides a great new facility for the local community to utilise and enjoy.”

Newly-affiliated State League 2 side and the Jets’ local rival, Modbury Vista SC, will share the facility to host their home games next season.

“It is fantastic that the two rivals will be playing out of the same venue in 2017,” said Michael.

“This further illustrates the benefit of artificial pitches and their ability to offer greater participant opportunities which supports the future growth of Football in South Australia.”

Modbury Jets President, Jeff McCormack says he expects 250-strong playing group across all ages to grow in the near future following the completion of the new facility.

“There are multiple games scheduled for anyone of any age in the upcoming season any beyond,” said Jeff.

“There will be an opportunity for the whole community to come and experience the facility and be part of history.”

A Club Statement from the Jets says the facility will be able to accommodate the ever-growing interest in both the club and, more importantly, generating increased participation of football at all levels - whether it’s enabling the region’s most talented players to compete at the highest level or a children’s development program.

“Mission accomplished,” says Jeff.

“Now you can see the fruits of our labour. It’s all coming together.”
