Vale Charlie Horvath

Football SA is saddened to hear of the loss of Hall of Fame member, Charlie Horvath.

Charlie was inducted into the Football SA Hall of Fame in 2005, with the Award of Distinction as a member for meritorious performance.

Charlie migrated to Australia in 1956 from Szekesfehervar, Hungary and made a significant contribution to football in South Australia as a player and coach.

He won Ampol Cup Winners Medals with Budapest SC and Juventus SC, along with awards from the Advertiser Newspaper, which included a Best and Fairest "News Trophy", Player of the Year, plus the inaugural Sportsman of the Month Award in May 1965.

Charlie's family describes him as "a much-loved husband, father, father-in-law and a true soccer legend."

The football community passes its condolences to Charlie's family and friends during this time.
