Vale Edmund Kreft

Football South Australia is saddened to hear of the recent passing of Football SA Hall of Fame member, Edmund Kreft.

Kreft made significant contributions to football in South Australia both as a player and a coach. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Coaches Association in 1968 and served as an instructor for its initial courses.

As a player and coach for South Australia, Kreft achieved notable successes. He led the state team to victory against international opponents in 1975, becoming the first South Australian coach to do so. Kreft was Adelaide City’s first national soccer league coach in 1977, and again in 1978, 1984 and 1985. He also won numerous championships, including the 1st Division Championship, 2nd Division Championship, Federation Cup, Coca Cola Cup, Ampol Cup, and Jaxen Cup.

Our thoughts and condolences go to his family and friends.
