Vale Wally Tkachuk

Football South Australia is saddened to hear of the recent passing of Hall of Fame member, Wally (Volodymyr) Tkachuk, at the age of 93.

After migrating to Australia in 1949 from Berestechko, Ukraine, Wally contributed to the game of football in South Australia as a Player, Coach and Administrator.

Wally was a Chairperson and member of numerous SASF and club committees, and was a founding member of USC Lion SC, where he officiated at the club as Chairman, Secretary and committee member in excess of 25 years 

Wally's other noteable contributions to the game include:

  • State Team Manager (1967-1972)
  • SASF delegate to Australian Soccer Federation
  • LOC Member FIFA World Youth Championships (1981)
  • Chairperson SASF (1979-1981)
  • Chairperson 1st Division Management Committee
     

In 2005, Wally was inducted into the Football South Australia Hall of Fame as a Member for Distinguished Contribution

And just this year (2023), Wally received the SA Governor’s award for Outstanding Individual Achievements.
