Football SA is excited to announce that Western Strikers will be entering the Go Sunny Solar Women’s State League for the 2024 season. Western Strikers Soccer Club has committed to creating pathways for their players and this year had three junior girls’ teams and two Community Women’s teams.
Western Strikers President Gianni Lastella is looking forward to the opportunity.
It’s an amazing time for the club, we look forward to seeing the club continually progress and evolve the growth of women’s football. The WSL is a wonderful opportunity for our current senior women footballers and will create a more secure pathway for our talented miniroos and junior girls. As a club we are very grateful and proud to be able take this opportunity. It will help build on our club values and legacy for future generations to come.
Western Strikers inclusion into the Go Sunny Solar Women’s State League was made possible due to Adelaide Hills Hawks advising Football South Australia of its difficult decision to withdraw its team from League due to unforeseen circumstances in the offseason. Adelaide Hills Hawks continues to be committed to creating pathway opportunities for their junior girls and women’s and will field a community women’s team for the 2024 Season.
Football SA would like to commend the clubs currently in the Women’s Elite Competitions for their continued commitment to shaping the future of Women’s Football in South Australia. The tremendous growth in Women’s Football participation, which has been inspired by the successful Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand this year.

The introduction of the Women’s Reserve League and the continuous commitment of clubs to grow football through pathways is a testament to the collective dedication to the growth of women’s football in SA. The 2024 Women’s State League season will be an exciting and unforgettable one.
Football SA welcomes Western Strikers Soccer Club to the Go Sunny Solar Women’s State League and for providing a pathway for its junior girls through to the elite levels of the sport.
The Go Sunny Solar Women’s National Premier League and Go Sunny Solar Women’s State League will commence on the weekend of the 15 March 2024. The League fixtures will be released shortly.
