WNPL Preview - Round 12

Competition: Women's NPL SA 2019
Round: 12

West Adelaide vs Adelaide University
Venue: West Beach Parks Football Centre
Date: 31/05/2019 08:00 PM

The game that could define Adelaide Uni’s season. Adelaide Uni sits in 5th place leading into tonight’s match with the determination to continue their climb into 4th spot. They capitalised on Metro United’s loss last week and now only trail Metro by 4 points. A win tonight will open up a 5-team race for the 3 remaining spots in the finals, as Adelaide City have all but confirmed their spot.

West Adelaide enters tonight hot favourites, enjoying their current placing in 2nd spot. A draw last week to the improving side of Adelaide Comets have given coach Adrian Santrac some work to do during training this week. He will hope for one better tonight to ensure they keep that 2nd spot theirs. The last time these two sides met in Round 5, Adelaide Uni shocked the West Adelaide side with a 1-0 win, however, West Adelaide will be out looking for redemption. West Adelaide however will be without star player Dragana Kljajic and will look at a reshuffle in the midfield to ensure Uni still have to do it the hard way if they want the win.

Adelaide City FC vs Metro United WFC
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: 31/05/2019 08:15 PM

One of, if not the most anticipated fixture on the WNPL calendar returns tonight at Adelaide City face rivals Metro United. Their Round 5 encounter proved all but too easy for league leaders Adelaide City, running out 4-2 winners. On that occasion, Metro’s Chrissy Panagaris scored an absolute stunning goal to win the NPL/WNPL goal of the round. She will be out to continue her great form and help give City their second loss of the season. City however will be going into tonight’s fixture with high heads after netting 9 goals past Salisbury Inter last round. Chelsie Dawber scoring 6 goals last week has shot her up to now be the leading goal scorer. Expect tonight’s match to be reigning goals, with the top 4 leading goal scorers in the league all taking the pitch tonight. Only 1 goal separates that race which will be on the mind of all 4 players tonight. A win for Metro will help them remain in reach of the top 3 and boost their chances of 4th spot being theirs in the later part of the season. City will be out to win their 11th game of the season and cruise towards the finals series.
