Adelaide Comets vs Football SA NTC
Elimination Final
6:00 pm | Friday 2 September | ServiceFM Stadium
Last Meeting:
(6/8/22) Round 16 | Adelaide Comets 3 v Football SA NTC 1

Adelaide Comets

Adelaide Comets and Football SA NTC are set to face off in a clash that will determine who will meet the loser of tonight’s Qualifying Final next week. Adelaide Comets will tonight participate in their first-ever Finals Series match after securing a fourth-place finish after a successful 2022 WNPLSA campaign which saw them produce some brilliant attacking football. Although finishing the season with two losses, both defeats came against the top two teams, where they lost by one against Adelaide City and lost 5-3 to West Adelaide last week. Striker Chrissy Panagaris will look to build upon her 20 goals in the WNPLSA as she attempts to make Adelaide Comets' first appearance in the Finals Series a memorable one.

Adelaide Comets is currently unbeaten against Football SA NTC this season, winning both clashes. Goals by Chrissy Panagaris and Georgie Nicola saw Adelaide Comets secure a 2-1 win in Round Seven, while a solo goal by Panagaris and a memorable late double my Nanako Sasaki secured the 3-1 victory in Round 16.

Football SA NTC must look to erase their drought against Adelaide Comets this season as they search to progress past the first round. Facing back-to-back defeats in Round 16 and 17, Football SA NTC was pleased to end the WNPLSA season with an impressive 6-2 win over Modbury Vista to secure a fifth-place finish. Football SA NTC's place in this season's Finals Series was secured last week through an Emilia Murray double, while Lily Di Cola, Erin Kontoutsikos, Camila Madriz Figueroa and Claire Scarpin all contributed to goals each. Football SA NTC is a brilliant attacking side that can cause numerous problems for the Adelaide Comets' defence tonight. In the 18 rounds of the WNPLSA season, Football SA NTC contributed 55 goals, the second highest in the competition. Although only scoring twice against Adelaide Comets between their two meetings, Football SA NTC may need to better this stat to enter next week’s clash with either Adelaide City or Salisbury Inter.

Adelaide City vs Salisbury Inter
Qualifying Final
8:15 pm | Friday 2 September | ServiceFM Stadium
Last Meeting:
(5/8/22) Round 16 | Salisbury Inter 1 v Adelaide City 2

Adelaide City

After missing out on the Premiership and the WNPL & WSL Cup, Adelaide City’s journey for Championship glory begins tonight, as they face the 2021 Champions Salisbury Inter. Adelaide City has experienced a dominant end to the 2022 WNPLSA season, finishing their campaign with four wins in four, while scoring twelve and only conceding one. The team ended the WNPLSA season with an impressive 6-0 victory over Fulham United FC that saw Daniela Di Bartolo score a double, while Valeria Guajardo, Mawa Sumaoro, Yasmina Kasumovic and Alicia Nickolas all scored one each. Finishing the season with fourteen wins and only four losses, Adelaide City will have great confidence in securing a place in next week’s Major Semi-Final against West Adelaide.

Salisbury Inter has been unable to find an answer for Adelaide City this season, with tonight’s home side securing two 2-1 victory. Salisbury Inter were unfortunate not to take a point from their first meeting this season, as a late Isabel Hodgson goal saw her secure her second of the match and the victory for her side. Their last meeting ended in heartbreak for Salisbury Inter, as a second-half double from Valeria Guajardo cancelled out Emily Heazlewood fifth-minute opener.

Salisbury Inter has struggled for form over the last few weeks, which saw them end the season with two losses and only one win, with their only win coming against Fulham United who they beat 1-0 with a penalty in the final minute of the game. The team also faced a 3-2 defeat last week as they gave the then-bottom team WT Birkalla their first win of the season. Although struggling towards the latter of the season, Salisbury Inter is still a top team to be feared by all opponents, which has seen them win eleven matches this season. The team will look to back up their success of last season’s Championship win with a victory tonight to enter next week's Major Semi-Final.
