To kick off an exciting doubleheader at VALO Football Centre, Modbury Vista will face Adelaide City. Life in the WNPLSA has not started well for Modbury Vista as they have experienced two defeats in a row, with the most recent coming against West Adelaide as they lost 9-0. Modbury Vista currently has the worse defensive record in the competition, as they have recorded 14 goals against in two games. They now face another difficult encounter as they are set to battle with current league leaders in Adelaide City.

Adelaide City has started the season in great form, winning their opening two games, beating West Adelaide and WT Birkalla. Their most recent win came against WT Birkalla as Katie Bowler’s masterclass assisted in their 4-1 win, with Mawa Sumaoro picking up her third goal in just two games for her new club. Adelaide City will be hoping to start the season with three wins in three, as they look to take advantage of Modbury Vista’s struggling defence. The signing of Isabel Hodgson will provide great confidence for Adelaide City, as the Adelaide United star returns to Adelaide City for her fifth consecutive season.

The final matchup of the Friday night WNPLSA doubleheader will see West Adelaide face Metro United WFC. West Adelaide picked up their first win of the season in Round Two in convincing fashion as they demolished Modbury Vista 9-0. Racheal Quigley demonstrated her undeniable quality in front of goals as she picked up another two goals, to take her tally to four in two games, while Nicole Tilley picked up her third of the season. Harriet Burnett was the star of the show as she picked up her first hat-trick of the season. Georgia Macri and Anna Pritchard both recorded their first goals of the season. Currently holding the best-attacking record in the competition, West Adelaide will hope to continue this as they look to seal their second win of the season.

West Adelaide’s opponents Metro United WFC will enter Round Three in great spirits after they also recorded their first win of the season in Round Two, as they beat Adelaide Comets 3-0. It was a dominant performance by Metro United WFC who were unlucky not to increase the margin further, with Lauren Steer, Laura Stockdale and Victoria Mansueto all picking up their first goals of the season in their Round Two win. Having made up for their Round One loss to Football SA NTC, Metro United WFC will be hopeful of securing their second win in a row.

To close out Round Three, Adelaide University will face WT Birkalla at VALO Football Centre. Adelaide University started their season in great spirits after they picked up a well-deserved 2-1 win over Fulham United, with Tanaye Morris and Milano Venter both recording their first of the season. After struggling towards the end of 2021, the 2022 season is already beginning to look brighter for Adelaide University. They will hope to make it two wins in two games as they face off against the recently promoted WT Birkalla.

WT Birkalla are yet to pick up their first win in the WNPLSA, as they enter Round Three with only one point. They faced their first defeat of the season as Adelaide City’s experience proved too much for WT Birkalla as they lost 4-1. After Sarah Chappel scored WT Birkalla’s first goal in the WNPLSA, the team will hope there are plenty more to come in Round Three. This matchup will be a great test for WT Birkalla as they look to distance themselves from the bottom two early in the season.

Women’s State League Preview

After the devastation of experiencing defeats in Round Two, Adelaide Hills and Modbury Jets will look to get back to winning ways as they face off at the Hawks Nest. After a strong Round One performance which saw both clubs record their first wins of the season, Round Two was a major letdown, with Adelaide Hills losing 3-0 to Adelaide Jaguars, while Modbury Jets lost 3-0 to Flinders United. Three points are vital for both clubs as they search for their second win of the season.

Flinders United will host Campbelltown City at Flinders University Playing Fields as they look to record their second win of the season. After their impressive 3-0 win over a strong Modbury Jets team, Flinders United will be eager to start the season two from two. While Campbelltown City is still searching for their first points of the season after they experienced back-to-back losses, with the last coming in the form of a 4-1 loss to Elizabeth Grove.

South Adelaide travels to Marion Sports and Community Club as they face Cove FC. After experiencing defeat in Round One, Cove FC bounced back in impressive fashion as they beat FK Beograd 7-2 to record their first three points of the season. They now face a tough challenge in South Adelaide who is refreshed after a week off. South Adelaide won their opening game 12-0 over Elizabeth Grove and will hope to continue this form in their Round Three encounter with Cove FC.

FK Beograd searches for their first points of the season as they face the undefeated Adelaide Jaguars. FK Beograd has conceded 14 goals in their opening two games, while only scoring two goals. They will be hoping that they can quickly change their fortunes, however, face a tough challenge with the early league leaders Adelaide Jaguars. Adelaide Jaguars have started the season with two wins in two, with the most recent coming against Adelaide Hills as they won 3-0.

Elizabeth Grove has received a bye in Round Three.
