The time has finally arrived – the women’s season is starting this weekend. Here's everything you need to know.

Get set for an electrifying season as South Australia gears up for the highly anticipated Go Sunny Solar Women’s National Premier League (WNPL) and Women’s State League (WSL) showdowns in 2024.

In the Go Sunny Solar WNPL arena, defending champions, Salisbury Inter, are primed to defend their title against a fierce lineup of contenders. Expect stiff competition with women’s football powerhouses like Adelaide City, Adelaide Comets, West Adelaide, and the dynamic FSA NTC squad. The battle for supremacy is on, and the field is ablaze with talent. Meanwhile, in the Go Sunny Solar WSL, the stage is set for the challenge for promotion, with rival teams bolstering their ranks and aiming to excel on the field.

FSA LEAGUES

It's always valuable to revisit the format of our competitions, both for seasoned fans and newcomers alike.

Go Sunny Solar WNPL

The Go Sunny Solar WNPL stands as the premier state-level women’s football competition in South Australia. The format is a double round-robin over 18 rounds, followed by a finals series.

The League Premiers are determined by the team finishing first in the Regular Season. Relegation awaits the 10th placed team, who will move down to Go Sunny Solar WSL in the subsequent season. The 9th placed team will battle in a promotional play-off with the 2nd placed team from the Go Sunny Solar WSL.

In the Final Series, the top team go straight to the Major Semifinal, while the 2nd to 5th placed teams battle it out - 2nd vs 3rd play in a qualifying final, where the winner encounter the 1st placed team for a Major Semifinal. The loser advances to a Minor Semifinal to play the winner from the elimination final between 4th vs 5th. The Major Semifinal winner advances to the Grand Final, while the loser confronts the winner of the Minor Semifinal for a place in the Grand Final.

A Grand Final is held at ServiceFM Stadium, where the winner is crowned Champion.

Go Sunny Solar WSL

The Go Sunny Solar WSL is the second division of women's football in South Australia. The format is a double round-robin over 18 rounds. The League Premiers, the 1st placed team in the Regular Season, earns the promotion to the Go Sunny Solar WNPL. The 2nd placed team will battle in a promotional play-off with the 9th placed team from the Go Sunny Solar WNPL.

  • Women’s Leagues: March 15th to August 18th
  • Final Series: August 23rd to September 8th
  • Grand Final Weekend: September 13th to 15th
