Senior Match Official Pathway

The Senior Football Match Official (SFMO) qualification prepares referees to officiate senior-level football. This pathway builds on the Junior level foundation and introduces advanced refereeing skills such as tactical fouls and managing match complexity.

To be eligible for the Senior Match Official pathway, participants must have completed the Laws of the Game and either be 18 years or older with a minimum of two years’ football experience, or be under 18 with a Junior Match Official qualification and at least two years of junior refereeing experience.

 

The Senior Online Course covers:

  • Tactical fouls

  • Mass confrontation management

  • Handball interpretations

  • Advanced game management

  • Effective communication

  • Match control at senior level

Senior Football Match Official Online Course

 

The in-person session is compulsory. You will:

  • Review of Senior-level officiating concepts

  • Group analysis of match footage

  • Player management strategies

  • On-field practical application

You must complete this session to become qualified. Upcoming practical courses are displayed below.

 

Once you complete both components, you are eligible to officiate in local Junior Football Competitions within your Member Federation.
