COVID-19 Requirements Reminder | A message from the CEO

15 July 2020

The state’s football community have rebounded strongly following our temporary suspension of activities in the wake of COVID-19 back in March this year. Participation levels have all but recovered to those levels seen in 2019 and this shows great strength as a key code in the state. Leadership at Club and Association level has been first-rate as has the role of our coaching fraternity.

The whole Football Community want to see participation continue for the remainder of the scheduled season. We all have a vital role to play in ensuring that we can manage those elements within our collective control to give us the best opportunity to achieve our desired goal.

We all must follow the Return to Competition Requirements approved by SA Health and the individual venues COVID Safe Plans required by law. We can not be complacent and think that our work in addressing COVID-19 is done. It is not. Officials, players, coaches and spectators all have a role to play and the team at Football SA implore you to continue to show leadership and work hard to do what we can as a collective to keep us all safe.

Outbreaks of COVID-19 are occurring in Victoria and New South Wales and this is a timely reminder to all Clubs and Associations of their obligation to implement the Football SA Return to Training and Return to Competition Requirements and to reiterate to all stakeholders the need to fulfil their obligations. We all have a responsibility to ensure we continue to practise social distancing and good hygiene behaviours to help combat the spread of this virus.

Football SA staff will continue to conduct random inspections of training sessions and matches to ensure requirements are being implemented. If there are any questions relating to details contained with documentation our team are available to take you calls.

Best wishes.

Michael Carter
