Football SA to say NO to violence and YES to mateship with Sammy D Football Violence Prevention Round this weekend

The Sammy D Foundation was established in 2008 when a young man lost his life due to an unprovoked one punch attack. Following the devastating loss of Sam, his parents, founded the Sammy D Foundation, with the ultimate aim of providing skills to young people in order to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again.

To further support the Foundation and the partnership, Football SA has dedicated the weekend of 23-25 June as the Sammy D Violence Prevention Round, which included the Federation Cup Final Day at ServiceFM Stadium, Gepps Cross.

Club Packs to support the Round have been made available for clubs to collect at Football SA offices (ServiceFM Stadium, Gepps Cross) and includes the following material:

  • A roll of blue tape per team for ALL players to wear for games;
  • Posters to be put around the Club to support the Round (including digital versions);

Please take images of how your Club is supporting the Sammy D Round with #SAMMYDROUND and tag both @FOOTBALLSA and @SAMMYDFOUNDATION.

It is important we all support this Round to ensure the partnership remains strong and can continue to deliver workshops to Clubs into the future.
